Walking about in my City top yesterday (I now live in between Notts and Derby) and noticed a lot of blokes grinning as they saw the top, as though, losing in a CL final was some great embarrassment or like you would look at the fans of a team as though we'd spent the last year claiming we're the greatest team of all time and we're guaranteed to win it. Had some bloke shouting Chelsea, Chelsea and laughing, turns out he doesn't even support Chelsea I was like mate, just glad to have even got there tbf.
Then you've got social media. Fuck me it's rife on there. Impossible to escape it. Pure glee, gloating (from fans of teams not actually in the final) and digs. As though we somehow failed at acheiving something we were guaranteed to win, like it was an FA Cup final against Brentford and we lost after giving it the big un all day. Or as though to us this was the be all and end all of the season. When it wasn't.
I think a big part of it is that no matter what we do (winning the league for example) a lot of fans can't handle just how good we are and they're jealous, scared even. A lot of them hate us. So anything to divert away from, say for example the FACT THAT WE JUST WON THE FUCKING LEAGUE, is jumped on, over emphasised and made a huge deal out of.
But no one cares about little old City though. You know who cares less that no one cares about City? City fans. Couldn't give a fuck. It's about what we get from this, always has been. We don't have that mindset. Imagine supporting Liverpool or Utd where you become less a fan of your own achievements because they mean less to you than what other fans can say about you. Or a some dickhead fan who supports a team that won't win anything and instead of being fine with that, secretly masturbate over being a utd fan, and hating City even though we're within less than a 1000 miles from the team you support.
