Other fans reactions to the CL loss against Chelsea

Walking about in my City top yesterday (I now live in between Notts and Derby) and noticed a lot of blokes grinning as they saw the top, as though, losing in a CL final was some great embarrassment or like you would look at the fans of a team as though we'd spent the last year claiming we're the greatest team of all time and we're guaranteed to win it. Had some bloke shouting Chelsea, Chelsea and laughing, turns out he doesn't even support Chelsea I was like mate, just glad to have even got there tbf.

Then you've got social media. Fuck me it's rife on there. Impossible to escape it. Pure glee, gloating (from fans of teams not actually in the final) and digs. As though we somehow failed at acheiving something we were guaranteed to win, like it was an FA Cup final against Brentford and we lost after giving it the big un all day. Or as though to us this was the be all and end all of the season. When it wasn't.

I think a big part of it is that no matter what we do (winning the league for example) a lot of fans can't handle just how good we are and they're jealous, scared even. A lot of them hate us. So anything to divert away from, say for example the FACT THAT WE JUST WON THE FUCKING LEAGUE, is jumped on, over emphasised and made a huge deal out of.

But no one cares about little old City though. You know who cares less that no one cares about City? City fans. Couldn't give a fuck. It's about what we get from this, always has been. We don't have that mindset. Imagine supporting Liverpool or Utd where you become less a fan of your own achievements because they mean less to you than what other fans can say about you. Or a some dickhead fan who supports a team that won't win anything and instead of being fine with that, secretly masturbate over being a utd fan, and hating City even though we're within less than a 1000 miles from the team you support.
I was on a train to Notts once a few years ago. It was packed full of Rags returning home after their Saturday afternoon match. I was sat at a table with a father, son & granddad who said they were ManUre season ticket holders, but their local club was Forest. :-|

Interestingly I’ve seen so many city shirts since the final in Essex and in Derby - the kids don’t seem to mind !

‘Nobody cares’ when we win, apparently.
They all seem to care immensely when we get beat, though.
Fuck em, that’s football. It generates more heat than light. We have all had a good laugh at united, liverpool, arsenal, spurs etc this season so no reason to expect any different when it’s our turn.
Those having a pop know deep down that they would all swap their players, manager, owners and season for ours in a heartbeat, with the possible exception of Chelsea

Yeah, the only people I see actively root against City are United fans and whoever you're competing for the title against, in recent years that would be Liverpool fans.

Thanks mate. I'm totally overjoyed, the buzz still hasn't worn off. I've stayed away and tried to post as little as possible on this site as I didn't want to come across as gloating or needlessly rubbing it in your faces.

When the hurt subsides, I think you'll all be proud of the season you've had. You absolutely wiped the floor with us all in the league.

Thanks for posting, mate. Good to read your posts. For the moment, forgive us if we’re angry at the ref and our own team. It will pass. Fans of other teams are always welcome here, it’s only those that act like twats that aren’t. Congratulations on your win, and enjoy that ‘champions of Europe’ feeling :)

Did anyone see the video of Mani from The Stone Roses after the match, said “you blue ****s, I hate you, you can suck my ****”.

He came across like a proper vitriolic bitter Red, but to be fair, I can take that honesty from a local red, rather than “we don’t care about City” from the plastics all over social media. They embarrassed themselves with that craic this year, it’s literally the argument you’d expect back from a 10 year old in the playground.

Let’s be honest as well, when Pep’s Barcelona took United to the cleaners in the final, it was thoroughly enjoyable to watch. I lapped it up 100%, because being truthful I hate those ****s as well.

Its pretty much the response I get. I dont see this widespread dislike for City people post about on here, and if anything, having been through our journey, I get a lot of kudos from other fans have been in Div 2, got relegated etc.

Numerous people wished me luck on Saturday, before the event.
Exactly the same as me. Maybe it's because I'm 50 but all fans I meet are respectful of City's past and invariably say "at least you're not United". Haven't had anyone gloating, nothing but sympathy, at least to my face. Daft kids on social media skew people's perceptions of most football fans.

Whats wrong with that ? thats 3 generations of being Rag ticket holders. At least they're not plastics. I used to be a member of the London branch and I always admired the sacrifices a lot of the members made to travel every Saturday home and away. It wasn't cheap and took up their whole day. Some were ex pats but a lot weren't like me.

I wouldn’t have sat at that table mate

People who say city fans do the same if its United. Fair enough, I do aswel. There is a difference tho. United fans say they dont care about city, say are trophies aren't as important because no ones bothered when we win.
Its complete bollocks but it starts to be believed.

It just goes to show how many people don't really think for themselves but are led by their noses by the bitterest of all, the print and broadcast media.
