Other fans reactions to the CL loss against Chelsea

More to the point, clearly people care about City, and not all negatively. I meet plenty of people who are pleased for my ‘success’ as a City supporter in middle-age; especially when they find out about my stripes as a blue. Before this season been to every major, decisive game (apart from the ‘81 FA Cup Final Replay) since 1981.

They are pleased because they remember our loyalty with fondness; you know, because they are older than 15, and were actually there, and saw it for themselves.

Its pretty much the response I get. I dont see this widespread dislike for City people post about on here, and if anything, having been through our journey, I get a lot of kudos from other fans have been in Div 2, got relegated etc.

Numerous people wished me luck on Saturday, before the event.

Its those who have never been to a football match in their lives that have the most to say
Totally agree, the plastic rag and liverpool fans in the pub who are full of it when they doing well but wouldnt know how to find their stadiums. Always reference the team as "we" and "us" and proudly wear shirts well into middle age. Usual excuses for not going like " cant get a ticket" even when shown tickets on open sale.

Walking about in my City top yesterday (I now live in between Notts and Derby) and noticed a lot of blokes grinning as they saw the top, as though, losing in a CL final was some great embarrassment or like you would look at the fans of a team as though we'd spent the last year claiming we're the greatest team of all time and we're guaranteed to win it. Had some bloke shouting Chelsea, Chelsea and laughing, turns out he doesn't even support Chelsea I was like mate, just glad to have even got there tbf.

Then you've got social media. Fuck me it's rife on there. Impossible to escape it. Pure glee, gloating (from fans of teams not actually in the final) and digs. As though we somehow failed at acheiving something we were guaranteed to win, like it was an FA Cup final against Brentford and we lost after giving it the big un all day. Or as though to us this was the be all and end all of the season. When it wasn't.

I think a big part of it is that no matter what we do (winning the league for example) a lot of fans can't handle just how good we are and they're jealous, scared even. A lot of them hate us. So anything to divert away from, say for example the FACT THAT WE JUST WON THE FUCKING LEAGUE, is jumped on, over emphasised and made a huge deal out of.

But no one cares about little old City though. You know who cares less that no one cares about City? City fans. Couldn't give a fuck. It's about what we get from this, always has been. We don't have that mindset. Imagine supporting Liverpool or Utd where you become less a fan of your own achievements because they mean less to you than what other fans can say about you. Or a some dickhead fan who supports a team that won't win anything and instead of being fine with that, secretly masturbate over being a utd fan, and hating City even though we're within less than a 1000 miles from the team you support.
I wouldn’t expect anything different.

It’s exactly what sections of our support do when other clubs get there and fail as well. We made a shit song about Liverpool losing in Kiev to Madrid a few years ago, sung it for a whole year with everyone doing cheerleader choreographed dancing to the allez allez allez bit… it was embarrassingly woeful but it was one of our most joined in with chants that season, a song about Liverpool losing a CL final after they knocked us out of the competition when they finished 25 points behind us in the league.

Football fans are all pretty much the same. All clubs have got their reliable core fans, all have got their trouble making wankers, all have got their loudmouth know-nowts.

Social media cannot be really taken into consideration, on there every team gets the same nonsnese.

If a football related tweet if it's replies aren't 90% insults someone posting Ratioed or Dub then it is a rarity.

I’m a grammar Republican Fascist Party to your grammar Nazi. I’ll be quite as punctilious; but you’ll doubtless be better dressed than me...

The Nazis were definitely the best dressed tyrants in history.
And their trains ran on time. I wondered if your “Hazard” was a deft, Rommel-like way of getting a Chelsea “legend” into the post.

I’ve mainly been greeted with “what the fuck happened Saturday”

many in disbelief at the selection which then lead to our 3rd poor performance against them in 6 weeks. I think proper fans understand our sadness and anger, the feeling of being robbed of playing/expressing ourselves like normal.

I've always believed that if you expect other fans to like your club you're on a hiding to nothing.
Let's have it right. People only liked us because we were perennial losers, but still remained faithful. Now that we're perennial winners (but still faithful), expect the hate.
Water off a duck's back as far as I'm concerned.

everybody defo knows who we are now. the world famous MANCHESTER CITY and not where's wally in a crowd anymore. the haters know because we are always winning silverware and there team is not

i would walk 500 mile
and i would walk 500 more
because we don't see a utd shirt's anymore
