Our glaring weakness at LB, will it be fixed?

We looked so much worse when Kolarov came on yesterday. He offers absolutely nothing, he has to go. Would rather have Mangala at left back, at least he runs for the ball.
 
Well now that Alaba is out of the picture i think the majority of left backs out there in the 10-5 teams in all top leagues are better than what we've got tbf.
 
Kolarov's had a possible handball and didn't track Costa well enough. Not expecting anything from this game but he's playing worse than any of the kids.
 
As a Bayern fan myself, I wouldn't be too sad if Pep takes Bernat with him.
He's not really a stand-out player, he just played better than expected. The fact he played nearly every game last season was due to our injury problems at the back (Badstuber, Benatia, Alaba, Martínez). He's one of the few players constantly giving me headaches because he's pretty useless going forward and not a fantastic defender. Call him a second Rafinha if you want. He's very secure on the ball and good for ball circulation, but that's actually where it ends. Not a bad player, but I don't think he's good enough.
 
before our game i watched first half of leverkusen-dortmund and i was very impressive with kusen LB wendell...can someone who watch bundesliga tell us more about him????? he is young and most likely won t cost toooo much..
 
Ryan Bertrand from Southampton? I know he's English but he has been superb in every game I have seen him in this season.

too old and doesnt have enough passingskill. Pep will be trying for Alaba but it wont really happen. Players like Bernat, Gaya, Sandro and Wendell are players he will realistically go for. We saw today that Kolarov and Zabaleta, especially Kolarov, doesnt have it in them to be here next season. that also goes for clichy. we need 2-3 new fullbacks and using Angelino n Denayer (who can player there can centrally brilliantly) as backups will be prefect for a high-pressure system with new young legs. AND as important as the fullbacks are in Peps system we CANNOT afford to keep going with Kolarov, Clichy and Zabaleta anymore.

True and the midfield needs revamping as well.

I expect at least one DM who will slot straight into the side next season.

Part of the reason we are overrun by too any sides is we don't have mid fielders who protect and keep hold of the ball when needed and can track the runners from the opposition and that has to change because we give up too many soft goals as a result.

Hence the signings of Xhaka n Gundogan would make alot of sense while selling yaya and fernando. Too slow and too clueless in the system atm. Yeah we do need some, 4-7 new players.

Wendell Borges - great shout! Only problem is he's not a full International. Fabinho on the other flank from Monaco nearly happened last summer so I can see that one being resurrected.

That rather depends on the price as to whether he is too old (27 at start of season 2016/17. Right on the cusp I admit, unless the value is good. And I totally disagree about his passing ability it is top notch.

Fabinho hasnt been good this season at all and if we wantd him we'd get him last summer. Wendell isnt starting in the national team cuz of Sandro, Marcelo etc... its hard. But under Pep he will grow to a potential Alaba.

Bertrand isnt good enough for City.

Bertrand is absoloutley nowhere near good enough and definitely not intelligent enough to play for Pep.

We have players who protect but not enough ground covering midfielder who win the ball
