Our marketing team are at it again

so influencing is the new big thing on twitter(I don't use it) but people on bluemoon reckon the marketing side need to get with the times, well which is it ?, I reckon our marketing team is like many things at city probably one of the best around, our support around the globe has risen year on year

I really think the BBC is an organisation in crisis but they haven't realised it yet. There is virtually no context or balance to most things they report. It's not just bias there are just too many factual inaccuracies. Coverage comes through a filter which is guided by the predujices of their staff. The online coverage appears to have no editorial standards applied to it. The BBC still has pockets of exellence like the World Service but it is a fading organisation.
You have to be careful with the BBC because its mired in controversy. There are some Conservative supporters who ideologically do not like the idea of a state broadcaster. They think it is biased against them as well as an anachronism. Other people on the left don't like it either because of its connection to the state and intelligence services (its content is vetted, and many journalists work hand in glove with the government, particularly when they report on overseas conflicts).

I prefer the BBC's coverage to Fleet St. It's still biased. We know some of their leading football reporters are Man Utd fans, and they've got some reporters who seem to have it in for City, but they also produce some good stuff too. Some of the material on BBC football is well researched and in-depth and has got statistical material in there.

I think the problem is that these depts are getting cut and cut every year and they probably have very little resources to do what they want to do and all of their effort goes into covering 3-4 clubs.

There's nothing wrong with using social media for marketing and nothing wrong with using so-called "influencers" to help generate business. It's done by most major companies, and all football clubs, these days. The problem was the amateurish content in the advert which seemed to be mocking our own core fanbase which is the why the club have denied it was anything to with them. The false media stories claimed that the club had commissioned the project.

Not hard though is it when your team are Champions. Get he the football right and everything else follows.

I agree with most of your points. I think the BBC football coverage has lost its way, probably because they have lost the broadcasting rights. But the BBC online team seems to have become involved in a race to the bottom with the tabloids for what I would describe as "clickbait-driven banter." This is an issue for all sensible football fans not just us. There is a huge audience of intelligent sports fans in this country but who is catering for us? This is not the case in the rest of Europe and the USA where sports coverage in general is a lot more specialised and intelligent. Just look at football leaks/Der Spiegel. The coverage in the North American media has mostly been excellent while in the UK it has been moronic with the broadsheets(and the BBC) just as inaccurate as the tabloids.

Every morning I check newsnow for City news. Almost without fail the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool.com (Trinity Mirror Group) or some Liverpool fan-site is running some kind of story about City. Today we have: https://www.rousingthekop.com/2019/...an-city-have-an-enormous-amount-of-fake-fans/

What is unclear is how genuinely obsessed Liverpool fans are with this kind of nonsense. Is it media hype, or are Liverpool fans completely and utterly obsessed with City? I suspect it's the former. It's the talksport phenomena of desperately trying to stand out in a very crowded market and trying to get attention. However, there are some nutters who will spend hours and hours bashing away on BBC or Guardian football about Manchester City.

I logged on to BBC Football's macth-day report and it was full of Liverpool fans dismissing the result/performance/City in general. The same individuals were still at it at midnight. I got up in the morning, the same people were still there. It's exactly the same on Guardian Football. There are a small number of very active obsessives. That's probably not unusual. The Internet has done this to maladjusted people. It's one thing to be positive and obsessive about your own club. We are those people. However, it is entirely different to have a negative obsession. Unfortunately, City have become a focus for this activity, and it's quite disconcerting if you are a City fan and you encounter these people. They are what has become known as trolls. In my experience Liverpool almost monopolise the trolls. It's basis no doubt is City's material threat to Liverpool, but the media-content also feeds them. It's not just that though. Man Utd probably have more reason to hate us than Liverpool, and yet in my experience the internet trolls are almost exclusively Liverpool supporters. It is must be something to do with their fan-culture which makes them particularly prone to this.
"What else did we expect from City? They bought players and trophies "

How very dare we!

I wouldn't say it was just the apparent mocking of the core fanbase. The fact that Nike kits are on display would cause issues and advertising for males only, is that even legal?

I feel like the club have humiliated me and my family with this.

'Three relatively unknown teams" hahahaha

Was this written by a rag who works for us???? seriously, zagreb, atalanta and shaktar.

Un-known...... were played shahktar about 8 times and got Ferdy from them which took years! zagreb were european contenders for years and atalanta would be known by anybody familiar with Itaian football.
