Our new attacking midfielder for the summer

I've said it on other posts but what about Modric from Spurs?
Inter rate him.

He is a very good player, no doubt about that. But the very thought of us trying to make a deal with Harry makes me shiver. He'd cost us a fortune... a fortune which would go straight into Harrys transfer pocket. I don't want that.

I don`t understand why everybody is writing Milner off !
He is a decent player no doubt. But he will never bring the quality a Pastore, Sneidjer or Sanchez will bring.
I.e. I can never see Milner rivaling Fabregas or Nasri in midfield. I can see Sneidjer, Pastore or Sanchez doing it though.

Nothing against Milner, he is a good hardworking player. But we need some magic in that team, and he is not going to be it!

Will Milner win us the Champions league? no.

Is he perfectly fine to play in the premier league, to give people like silva some time to rest for the champs league? absolutely.

Hence why no one is saying he should be sold. We are just suggesting those to be brought in to give us an edge in winning trophies.

And I don't see Milner as an alternative to the likes of Pastore or Silva, but for players such as Barry and YaYa, midfield engines.

I absolutely see him being a huge part of a league winning City team, but in a position like the one I described in my formation previously posted, behind the creative geniuses and goalscorers.

Agreed. But as a backup :P I personally see him as the Backup to De Jong. Rodwell the backup to Yaya.
And then the attacking mids of : Silva, Pastore, Aj, Balotelli, Assulin

Dzeko up top.

Milner back up for De Jong? You gotta be kidding me right? Even Rodwell is better than Milner in that position. Rodwell plays actually as an holding mid/box-to-box. A very good defensive midfielder.

Milner is for me a bit like box-to-box. He actually has pretty many assists in his premier league career.

And wtf...where do people get the impression that we are going for Sneijder? We haven't even been linked with the guy recently. He will stay in italiy i think. We wont get him..so please stop talking about him.

And we dont need to sell Milner just because we bring another central midfielder.

Milner would do well in this role IMO.

-------DJ---Yaya------
---AJ---Milner---Tevez
----------Dzeko

But he could also be played as a CDM.. That's why he's the perfect squad player.

I want him to stay, but we cant buy Sneijder and Rodwell while still keeping Milner IMO.

This! When he was at his best with Villa last year, he was a CAM. He has good passing and a pretty powerful shot. I think he could also do well in the barry role, but his preferred position is definitely a more attacking one.

I have seen Milner play. He is a DM who just doesn't know it yet.

So does Tevez. Doesn't make him a good passer of the ball though. Milner's best quality is his ferocity. If he channels that strictly towards winning possession, he'll be phenomenal. And Just because he is a DM, doesn't mean he stands still. Milner to me is the English version of Essien. He will pixk his spots and drive forward. Attempt some long passes. But is infinitely best putting in crunching tackles and harrassing offensive players.

Oh btw, Essien too has a lot of assists over his career.

That could be a great formation, but put in Silva for Tevez.

I think many of us can agree on playing with one central target man, as in Dzeko, right?
