Outside Maine Road...6th November 1971....3-3 Derby Day Pictures

I think the times we were young will always be the best times in our lives and that includes the music and fashions, even if we now look back and cringe at some of the clothing. First kiss, first fumble, first sex, that butterflies feeling when you bumped into the person you had a crush on. Finding your way and a voice, first job, a few bob in your pocket, little responsibilities and everything was about fun and discovering life.

The seventies was a great era in many ways although not many people had a lot. No cameras spying on you everywhere, no mobile phones and internet so everybody got out and had fun. Loads of characters and the youth could go to football and run riot, real rebellion in towns up and down the country.

Not for me most of the 80's music, 70's all day long, Slade, T Rex, Deep Purple, Led Zep, ELO, Springsteen amongst others then the fantastic New Wave era, Pistols, Jam, Clash, Siouxsie, Buzzcocks, Sham 69 and Hot Gossip dancing their tits off plus loads more, what a decade, Thatcher ballsed it up in 1979 and set the the tempo for the divisive 80's. Calling you @PinkFinal

Agreed. Each Sunday afternoon I listen to Johnnie Walker Sounds of the 70's on Radio 2. Great music with interesting interviews & anecdotes about that decade. Musically the 70's was the best IMHO.

The Beatles were over but Led Zep's best albums were still to come. And the summit of Exile on Main Street! And seeing Wishbone Ash four times at different venues in one year, starting by hitching over the Snake Pass from Glossop to see them at Sheffield City Hall, opening for Mott The Hoople.
And the best football in the land for 2/6 through the schoolboy's entrance to the Kippax.
And my first real girlfriend. I had been let out of a nine-year jail sentence, having ‘served’ nine years in boarding school: the world was my oyster.
Grand times.
