Owning a nice watch

They don’t have any uk based dealers sadly (Orient). I get mine from a company called “serious watches” based in Holland. Order Monday, arrives Wednesday. They do returns if needs be (but you won’t return them, they’re great).
They do a lovely little dress watch as well called the Bambino. Now available in a 38mm size. The straps are a bit ropey and cheap but you can get a nice Hirsch strap for about £20-30 and jobs a good’un
Orient is a brand that’s come up a few times while I’ve been having a look - and on TGV’s YouTube channel.

I’m going to have a browse!

Yeah, I think something akin to the Rolex Submariner for a couple of hundred quid (and I think the ones posted in the last couple of pages look like a great bet).

Orient make lovely dive watches for about £200. In house movements and really good value. Look for the “Kamasu”.
Or get another steinhart. Also great value if you don’t mind them being an homage to the crown. (I don’t, I think they’re brilliant)
Ooh - along with the Seiko's mentioned (SLK?) these look nice too. Real quick search is bringing these in around £180?

Which model for the Steinhart?

Steinhart Ocean One (Vintage Red) Diver is the pick of the bunch for me.

Ocean One Vintage Red
Good choice. I like the 39mm ocean one models as well. They do one in 904L steel (same as Rolex use) with a ceramic bezel. You’ll pay a bit more than an orient but you’ll get a Swiss movt (sellita sw200 usually) which is easy to have serviced.
I had an ocean one with green bezel, 42mm, and it ran beautifully for three years and I sold it and made most of my outlay back.

Tbh between orient and steinhart you can’t really go far wrong.

I probably will sell it next year as I want that 300 back, before they go daft money. I'm already looking lol.
As much as I love the po, it hasn't got that certain something that the wave dial bond had. I've never had a watch with a better bracelet, and the case is just brilliantly done.
I might buy another speedy with the change ;-)
Have to agree with you there,I have the blue dial wave effect on my sea master 300 and it is a beautiful thing, good luck on your hunt I'm sure you'll get what your after

It’s not an investment necessarily but as I’m buying something with money our kid left I’d like something that at least holds its own.. the Seamaster I was offered for £1500 seems to be a no brainer .. he just needs to find the box as it’s been put somewhere safe when they moved… it’s 100% legit though .. I’ve known him for years and he used to wear it at the office
