Ozzy RIP

Like Rik Mayall and Lemmy, this one hurts. The Godfather of Heavy Metal leaves us.

I don't have words, only sentiments and recommendations.

RIP Ozzy, you magnificent bastard.

Well said. I hate days like this. The passing of Chris squire ruined my holiday. I admit to crying in front of the wife and kids when Neil peart died. Our kid made a shrine for Lemmy. The list will continue sadly but the memories never die. Played Sabotage tonight in his honour. RIP.

I was never a great fan of the music of Black Sabbath, but there’s no doubt that Ozzy was a character.

He lived life to the full, and he was a great husband to Sharon and dad to Jack and Kelly.

The Osbournes series made the family household names.

It’s fitting that he managed to complete his farewell gig at Villa Park

Apart from my own father Neil had as bigger impact on me than anyone else and far more than all my school days put together. He opened up new worlds for me. Lemmy and Ozzy I don't think you get any bigger in the Metal world. I hope they've already sunk a few together again.

To put into context just how big and pioneering Sabbath were, here is them playing a gig in 1974 in California.

Rest in peace Ozzy, though I doubt you're doing much resting, more like partying up there. Given his lifestyle it was a miracle he made it this far.
His autobiography was one of the funniest I've read. I remember him working at a clock factory and the bloke he worked with had been working there over thirty years doing the same repetitive tasks over and over. He told Ozzy it was a good steady career and when he retired he'd get a gold clock like him if he stuck at it. Ozzy said fuck that, imagine working with clocks all your life then the bastards give you one when you retire.
Another time he got his solicitor pissed at his house and burnt all his clothes when he fell asleep. Ozzy told him the only thing he could lend him to wear to go home was a suit of armour. It was that or go home naked lol. What a character. He said he only got into music and a band because he hated working for a living.

Such a rare, rare musician. As a friend of mine has already said tonight:

'I don't know if anyone else will ever earn the eulogy, "He had the comportment and intellect of someone who'd been kicked in the head by a horse and he wasn't really good at singing per se, and that's why he was one of the most important artists of the 20th century". Sabbath will always be the heavy metal band to me. In a way that's not really comparable to any other band in any other genre. A creature of darkness born fully formed.'

RIP Ozzy.
I remember him saying he first went to America "I'd never seen a fucking tree before where I grew up"

And that story Sharon told about him leaping on the table in a fancy restaurant and putting his dick in the record company CEO's drink.

Big loss, legend.

Such a short time after his last concert at Villa park too. Apparently he was struggling before the show amd clearly in appalling health, but soon as the lights were on and the music started he came alive. A proper rock n roll star to the end. RIP Ozzy.

You’ve summed up what I think about the guy, The Osborne’s used to make me piss myself. I think I heard somewhere that in that series it was his medication that made him appear to shake all the time.
