Palace - Post Match Thread

good to see the boys put their shooting boots on its not that hard to score if you make the right connection, crucial result for Pep anything other than a win and would of been a huge headache

Fat Sam was angry when the ref dared to award us a free kick
Sammy Lee made me laugh constantly jumping up and running to the touch line

Fat Sam and even fatter Sam what a comedy act lol! They must rehearse which one takes it in turns to run to the touchline and wobble in outraged indignation! In fairness to Palace yesterday their backline was decimated with injuries but by the end they were chasing shadows.

Can you elaborate?

Yep on another day Sane could of had a goal or 2 and a couple of assists but facts wise Sterling had the end product yesterday even though he is a player who can frustrate you with his indecisions next game could be Sane being the main end product player but thats wingers for you.
Well watching the game yesterday and more recent games the difference between Sane & Sterling seemed pretty obvious to me. Sterling predominantly on receiving the ball seems to want to knock it back 5 yards, OK if its a give & go but frequently just seems a give, whereas Sane wants to gather or win the ball then turn and attack defenders. If I was a full back I know which of the two I'd want to be up against. Sane is not afraid to use his pace and has greater control. Coaching and maturity should help him develop the end product. Sterling for me seems to have a lot less natural talent, just because he cost more does not automatically mean he's a world beater you know. I hope he develops but I'm not sure is all-so the likes of Blue insa can vent away because someone has the nerve to voice a different view...

I think it's the other way around. he makes beating defenders look easy but he doesn't try it as much as Sane and Jesus.

Yesterday was the polar opposite of what has been lacking from the first team all season. Goals scored from midfield, Problem resolved yesterday and the high scoring win was secured

Brilliant day yesterday

I was impressed by Gabriel Jesus's calm hold up play and movement. He is a team player with mental and physical toughness and will grace the team for many years.
Strong as well. Loved the bit in the second half when he shouldered the Palace player over and we got the throw in.

And Jesus was also quiet after a very bright start.
You underestimate him then, he might have been quiet in terms of touches of the ball, but his movement was fantastic, and it was key to us scoring 5 goals. He pulled their defenders out wide, and into midfield, and that was why we created so many chances, and far more on target than we have recently. He was also close to getting a couple for himself, and he gets stuck in, which is hard for a defender to deal with, there was one shoulder to shoulder where he took the defender out of the game for instance.

He'll have brighter games directly in front of goal, and will be devastating, but he is just what Pep wants from our forward players, and yet he himself came off disappointed, he shouldn't be.

Agreed, it was great to watch, and we could have scored more. I was surprised at the amount of time Palace allowed our midfielders though. Maybe they're thinking of their big game next week? Hopefully we will get the same performance against those fuckers Leicester.

There's was that moment where he always looked physically in control of the defender.
The other was to set up De Bruyne, their defender clattered him and he didn't budge an inch and played a simple ball for an assist.

His overall play yesterday was exceptional, his work rate is one thing but his appreciation of all around him and the spaces he creates is for me the reason why Pep prefers him over Sergio.

It was a great day to see chances taken at last, praise to Palace though because they actually came to look at winning but just could not cope with us on the day. Palace have won against Chelsea etc this season and wanted another scalp. Compare that to united who came to defend, and defend only.

Agree with leicester, Lets hope we rack up another high scoring win and finish the season strongly. Liverpool draw today and we could take 3rd

For me there was only one thing missing from that performance........................ a goal from Zaba, with Vinnie getting a goal I just wanted Zaba to get one as well. Without his first goal in the 93.20 game we would have been second on that day!! And if the rumours are true that he is going then we need to celebrate a goal from him!! JMHO

I think one thing that Sterling could improve on is his willingness to make the runs behind the fullback, the type Zabba did consistently in his prime. Too often he receives the ball in a static position when he should be skinning his fullback in anticipation of receiving a pass from Silva at al.
To be fair, I actually like the fact he's got a shit load of learnig ahead of him, especially when his teacher is one of the best managers in the world, as his continued improvement bodes well for the future.

Don't remember Sammy Lee being that short when he was a player! Has he shrunk or does he look smaller Cos he's twice as wide as he used to be?

Either way I reckon technically he's a midget

Stats reckon 5'-7" but he must be that wide these days too lol!

One of the things I always remember about him as a player was that he was very effective at winning headers.
