parents who........

1. kids are children, who have to learn the pecking order, they are beneath adults until they have learned, grown up, contributed, then they can step up to the grown ups table. They are not your mate, that implies they are as good as, on a level par with adults. And they wonder why kids nowadays don't think twice about giving adults shhitt....remember when kids wouldn't say boo to a goose? bring those days back please....

2. If a holiday is too expensive in certain dates...how about this for a radical soloution....don't go....go every 3 years or don't buy a expensive car every 4 years or don't smoke or don't buy takeouts.........a holiday on the pisss is not the be all and end all. My childhood holidays were spent in Leicester and Bedford of all places visiting relatives and friends........kids don't NEED sun, sangria and rollacoasters, thats some sort of guilt trip parents feel...its the old "i don't want my kid missing out on anything their Friends had" clap trap. If a kids got imagination a field and a tree is all they need for a great holiday.

3. Why would anyone put a hole through their child?

4. Teachers who leave school early to go on holiday are sacked

5. kids who miss school often don't "catch up" as the curriculum is SO cramped

I should imagine your kids are a little like this then?

Utter bollocks

1. I treat my children as my equals. You must have a rather distant relationship with your kids if you think they are 'beneath you' and shouldn't be your mate till they've 'contributed'. Just because they are young and vulnerable and need our care and protection doesn't mean they're not all individuals. My 14 year old nephew is brighter than a lot of adults I've met.

2. What makes you think a holiday is for 'going on the piss' and 'going on rollercoasters'? I was very lucky in my childhood to visit some truly extraordinary, out of the way places with my parents, it was all part of exploring different cultures, not part of some boozefest in the Costa del whatever. Yes, sometimes I missed school, but I think it was worth it to visit the likes of places as New Zealand, Canada, Morocco, and Japan, that otherwise we wouldn't have been able to afford. It was certainly more educational than being sat in the back of some dilapidated classroom doing fuck all.

The rest I more or less agree on, but your first two points were an absolute load of tosh.

who do parents Peirce a ear for? for the kid? some of which Ive seen in a pram....who is that adornment for? The kid just has a painful ear for a day then has some metal in its ear, the kid isn't trying to look great. they are just a kid!!!!!

educating our children cost the tax payer a fortune and is a luxury that many kids around the world could only dream of. Taking them out of their highly expensive education so a family can get a cheaper holiday is a slap in the face for the tax payer and the millions of kids around the world who would walk 20 miles to go to school given the opportunity. This white middle class reasoning of the kid getting some sort of "real" education by not being at school but becoming world wise by spending 1 and a half days in transit, and 11 days playing with bob the builder in holiday club as mum and dad have this years sex in between rounds of Stella's and Tia maria is lame at best and pitiful at worst!!!!

Schools don't close when they have insets, the teachers come in and have often pointless meetings about such matters as how to restrain a child when they kick off (because their parents cant bring them up but instead Peirce their ear) most teachers would happily drop insets like a stone but boxes have to be ticked, performance management targets have to be met. Its easy to castigate teachers, there is so many urban myths about teaching and what they do. My job puts me in contact with many class room teachers, they are some of the hardest working, dedicated, educated, put upon, workers i have worked with. Many (despite the common myths) work VERY long hours, many have obstacles and hurdles put in front of them on a day to day basis that many people could only imagine. A teacher in a primary school I know faced a disciplinary the other day because she cleaned up a child who had shat himself. Can you imagine being bollocked for cleaning up a young kid who was sat in his own mess................teachers have to put up with insults from kids, threats from kids and parents, they have to put up with morons who reckon they know more about education than them while keeping calm, not retaliating and trying to be professional and the wage for all this....less than a fireman or tube driver!!!!!!!

All this "my kid is my equal and Friend" clap trap is all very well, but like many new age theorys....sounds great but all it does is breed arrogance and makes the instillation of a class pecking order with teacher being the leader of the pack very hard. maybe you should stand there as a kid who has been poisoned on new age bollox trays to dress you down because you asked them to behave.....its sad and totally avoidable if traditional, no nonsense, simple parenting was used. In stead of new age lentil eating, hippy, lazy, bull shit.

Sounds like you're in the wrong profession.

in my particular line. i see the best of them, my kids are generally, dedicated, hard working and a credit to there familys.....the regular dealings i have with the broader stream of education would make your hair curl. There is some seriously messed up kids, who were doomed before they started out because of the idiots who decided to breed and bring them up.....well drag them up..... So these morons are replacing themselves (as many people think we should) but only after inflicting a very dangerous, dim witted outlook!!!

still not answered whether you yourself have kids. what went wrong with your education? did your parents take you on holiday during some vital english lessons?

answer some of the questions you have been asked on this thread. have you been watching corrie too much lately with becky's sister going to aya napa?

you would seriously put a child in care because his dad calls him 'mate'? did you have a poor upbringing?
