I have honestly never seen such pathetic injury acting in my life. The slightest nudge, & the PSG players were tumbling over like they'd been shot by a sniper! :-|

It's cheating pure and simple. It slows the game down, stops our momentum, ensures we get yellow cards if the ref falls for it which puts more pressure on our players

It needs sorting out - any player retrospectively seen deliberately diving, trying to get another player sent off or feigning injury when not even tackled should face a 2 match ban

We've played more expansive football before, but NEVER have we looked a more complete package than we do right now.

Grealish needs time, & Sterling needs the opportunity to fully regain his confidence & form. For Grealish, see Rodri. For Sterling, see Bernardo.

Finally, we were fuckin awesome last night!

Spot on!

Our defence now is better than in 17-19. Walker is better now, Stones is better now, Dias is better than Otamendi, Cancelo is better than Delph/Zinch/Mendy. I won't say that Rodri is better than Ferna, but it wouldn't be an outlandish claim. Add also that Bernardo is better now, Gundogan is better now, Jesus is better now, Foden is much better now...and we have also Kevin, Grealish, Sterling, Torres, Mahrez, Laporte, Ake, Palmer, McAtee...This team can be very special, injuries permitting.

Paris suffered from the absence of Verratti. He's the transition, the front three don't drop back to fetch the ball if it's not being served up on a plate to them.
That we suffered far less from the absence of the likes of Grealish, De Bruyne, and Foden tells you what you need to know. MCFC: no stars. Just a team.

What I don't get is why UEFA don't take a stronger line with this cheating? I'm pretty sure if a player is rolling around unfairly, & refs were to book them for cheating, & order them off the pitch so the physios HAD to examine them, it would soon stop.

Also, our players & bench should be complaining to the ref every time it happens. If we keep on highlighting the issue, it will become a bigger issue & will need to be addressed. I'm tired of players rolling around like they've just been run over, then seconds after realising the game's continued, they jump the fuck up like Lazarus, rising from the dead.. :-/

Agree with every word of this mate. I think we've gone up another level this season because of the false nine system and also because several players (Rodri, Cancelo, Bernado, Walker and Stones off the top of my head) have improved markedly. I also believe us to be the best team in England and I haven't seen anything that suggests to me that we are not now the best team in the world.

It's worth noting that all the great City teams of recent years went down a notch if certain key players weren't available. Even until very recently that happened with KDB. We are now a complete team unit; we hammered PSG after going a goal down WITHOUT OUR TWO BEST CREATIVE PLAYERS!!!!! Everyone was groaning when they saw the team because we were missing 4 attacking players.

Last night City were the very definition of a top team, where to whole was truly greater than the sum of the parts (not that they still didn't add up to somehting good but...). The system, the way of playing - the process Pep refers to - is key and the beauty is that it is fundamentally very simple but actually a huge feat to achieve.

Some of the passages of play were so beautiful to behold.

I am sure we are also seeing the benefits of a stable set-up and a manager who has had time to work with players to make what they do become second nature.

The final this season is in St Petersburg, which is Manchester's longest-established twin city and in 2022 that relationship will be 60 years old. It's written in the stars!

Dreamt of going there for years. Independently of football matters. Was firmly planning to go this Christmas, but the Covid figures are so very bad in Russia, it put me off. I've had the jabs, and winding up for the third, but still.
