Paul Gascoigne

this is so predictable,he came out of this last rehab and went the next day to do paper and tv interviews. He should have continued his recovery away from the limelight, whilst he craves the attention he will never get the recovery he wants

Agree with this.McGrath pops up every so often especially on Irish radio stations when things are going well and then a few months later he is in the gutter again.Best to keep your counsel and get on with getting yourself better.

Save your sympathy for people that deserve and need it. This guys an idiot.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you, despite him being a Spurs legend.

There have simply been far too many last chances for me to care about him anymore.

Best player I have ever seen live. At Maine Road

The guy has a problem. Some of the comments on here are fucking ridiculous.

I sincerely hope none of you or your close relatives have the same problem

Comments like "I have washed my hands of him" like your his life long friend

Probably because he was publicly granted expensive treatment. I understand the problem but I'm struggling to find any sympathy after this latest trip to the hospital. He'll always be a legend but if anything, its frustrating to see him throw his life away like this.

Agree with you Stimo. At the end of the day nobody forced all that beer down his throat!! Its self inflicted, I remember all the paper photos of him with chris evans and that fat comedian getting pissed every night for about 2-3 months. They stopped but gazza thought it was fantastic and now hes paying the price. He threw his life down the toilet and its all self inflicted, I dont feel sorry for him one bit. He turned himself into a pisscan, he made his bed he can lie in it. How many of the public would get free trips to the states and free rehab!!!! Just to throw it away and get pissed again. F**k him.

On the one hand he's clearly an alcoholic and whenever he seems to get better he goes and drinks again and embarrasses himself and goes further into the gutter. If this is truly how simple it all is then yes, he deserves all he gets.

But on the other hand, he clearly has a problem which only long term therapy can solve. It's no good going to The Priory for a couple of weeks or a week in a rehab clinic in the US. He needs long term care. He obviously doesn't know his own mind because he's said time and time again when "Sober" that he wasn't going to drink anymore. So is he lying? Or is he ill?

His only chance is to be in an establishment that can monitor him on a 24/7 basis on a long term basis. Whether you think he deserves to be treated for his illness is a matter for the individual.

Is he no longer under the patronage of St. Ronald Of Dunmow? Has the patron saint of whoppers disowned Gazza in his hour of need??

The problem is when he gets the help and he gets "better" he will go home to the same environment as before and its starts again

It's terrible to see anyone suffering like this and the way players are managed has a big part to play in it. Most of them are picked up as kids and then the clubs take away all responsibility. They want a holiday, the club sorts it, they want a house, the club sort it, they want a car, the club sorts it. But once the player leaves football they're on their own and some of them can't cope with real life. The FA should have a support network in place that can help ex-players move on in their lives. They may earn stupid amounts of money but a lot of them don't know how to manage it.

I think he may have had no choice. It would cost a fucking fortune to try and rehabilitate someone in that state.
