Paul Pogba

One thing I never want City to do us react to what other clubs are doing. The rags have signed Mourinho as a reaction to us getting Pep and they are getting desperate enough to meet demands of players such as Ibrahimovic and Pogba simply to attract big names. That's fine, it may work for them. But we have to be bigger than that and do what is good for us, our club and our team. It may work, it may not, that's sport, but I know which approach I prefer.

because we seem petrified at making THAT leap at times and going big? yes we went big on de bruyne who has been amazing but could have had a season like raheem did and everyone would be wingeing about the fee like they do with sterling?? of course we have faith in pep but it seems we may have got ourselves in a pickle regarding trying to shift players like yaya on huge wages? we have chased pogba hard for two years now according to @tolmie's hairdoo so it shouldn't have been a shock to us this summer what the price and wages etc were for him? and on the theory we were buying last summer for pep coming in then surely pep asked for pogba as well? why would he change his mind this summer?
The last 3 years have been hindered with FFP, nothing to do with being petrified of making a leap. We showed before UEFA tried to fuck us that we weren't scared of spending big and this Summer will see us going big again. Not everyone is whinging about the fee for Sterling, some of us see it as a decent investment which after seeing the prices bandied about for the likes of Troy Deeney seems even more true.
I don't know how hard we've chased Pogba for the last couple of seasons, I've seen rumour and there's been a lot of talk on here but if Pep isn't interested this year then I've no reason to believe he was last year (when surely he'd have been giving some input) either. If he's not a Guardiola type player then buying him is a waste of time and money.
If we feel we have to get rid of players then I've no doubt we will. If Yaya is still here then it'll be because Pep wants him to be, same with anybody else whomstarts the season with us. You don't chase a manager for as long as we have without giving him your complete trust once he arrives.

Maybe my head's buried in the sand but I haven't seen any examples of a playboy lifestyle.

Comparisons with Balotelli are laughable. Comparisons with Kanye West are baffling.

And what's with this bad influence bullshit? As far as I can tell, he's played an important part in getting his national team to the semi final of Euro 2016 and Juventus winning back to back Scudettos. What a terrible influence he must be.

It's the haircuts isn't it?

Do you watch seria A??
I used to work for a stats Analysis/football odds company in London and have watched so much seria A over the last 4 seasons.
He is one of the most greediest players I've ever seen.
Are you aware he has the most shots of any player in seria A last season and only came joint 20th of all league goal scorers.
Many a time morrata or dyabla were I great positions and he decided to shoot from ridiculous range or angles

His body language when things aren't going his way is terrible not the sort of person to Turn to in a battle but that's my opinion
I'd much rather spend the money on Kroos and bonnuci then spunk it on him.
One player won't win the rags the league.
Maybe messi or sureaz but not Paul pogba

I'm just trying to take a step back in all of this.
I think Pogba is very good player and would be an asset to any side. But he may have to convince a few that he's real star quality. And for £80m+ I think you have to be convinced.

But the big question, if he doesn't join Real, is why?
They have money, so rarely get outbid for their main targets.
They have supporters who demand 'new star signings.' The board love to see signings as gifts.
They have a manager who has to be the idol of every French player on the planet.
Oh and they are the current European champions.

If he ends up at the scum, I don't believe Real were in for him unless at a reasonable price.

I've not said he would win United the league, I don't believe that's the case. He is, however, extraordinarily talented and would be an immediate improvement on their existing midfield.

We already have a stats guy so yes I am aware he takes lots of shots. And yes, I am aware he is often selfish on the pitch.

So at what point does he become Kanye or Balotelli off the pitch? That's just utter bullshit.

Ive not seen the hype from the start and 100% his ego will be huge now add that with twat of a manager i think it will end in tears. Plus there buying back a player for 100m who they gave away classic.

I think the bigger question regarding Real Madrid is, that this is their last transfer window for up to three years due to a ban. Modric is aging and will likely need replaced within that window. Pogba is almost certainly the man to make the switch, in terms of available players, quality and galactico star power. Why aren't they more interested in Paul Pogba?

Any club would want Pogba but with Barca and seemingly us out of the current bidding war that only leaves Real as a possible CL destination. Mino needs as many interested clubs at the negotiation table as possible so enter stage right United....

It does look increasingly likely he's gonna go to the rags.

The sums are ridiculous.

If it happens it's not so much missing out on Pogba but missing out on Kroos.

Our midfield is still weak.

If not FFP then what?
Lots of reasons. The main one being that the management team don't see the value in the transfer at the amount it would take to complete it.

That's a world away from City not being able to afford it. As an example, if Messi was available for £130m, there's not a chance we wouldn't be bidding for him. The new TV money alone (forgetting the profit in the last two years with smaller incomes) puts us in a situation where a net spend of around £200-300m would be more than doable.
