Who cares, completely overrated and Raiola is absolutely bending them over on these deals. They're never going to be able to sell enough AONs and Chevrolets to pay this one off. Should be embarrassed to have to spend 150m for a player they could have had for nothing.

He is overated, no doubt. He will however improve them significantly as much as it hurts me to say. That is the quality of player we should be buying if we want to win it all and we need to accept that the cost will be inflated. If we start looking for "bargains" we are just an inflated version of Arsenal. We need a "crack" player as Pelegrini used to say. Barca, R Madrid and Rags all buy this level of player and we have to do the same if we are to compete at the same level. If not this summer then next summer we have to make a similar statement

Close control and intelligence aren't his strong points.
I'd suggest that is why Pep doesn't want to chuck a £100m transfer fee, a huge agent fee and £250k a week on him.

I'd rather spend that kind of money on 2 prime world class players like Kroos and Bonucci who can slot into Pep's vision right away. Do that and a Mourinho Utd won't be a factor for long. If he doesn't win the PL in his first 2 seasons, and esp. if it's us/Pep lifting it on both occasions, it'll be meltdown/p45 time. It's not as if we aren't signing young players at all.

Obviously the destinies of Kroos, Bonucci could well be tied to Pogba's but the point stands, just with other players

Would seem awfully mourinho to go after pogba, simply because he knows it completely destroys his prime competitor's chance of gaining 2 world class players (Kroos & Bonucci).

I know that sounds ridiculous. Just pissing about. Pogba is obviously a talent that would improve most teams. I'm just bitter. I don't want them to even be linked with players of that caliber.

You're overthinking things. Mourinho's game never changes, it's the three year plan - year 1 he buys the bus, year 2 he parks the bus, year 3 he throws the club under the bus.

Here we are and Mou has made a number of flashy signings that smack of "win now, consequences later" and crushing the world transfer record for Pogba is just part of it. Is Pogba better than MSN and Bale? That's another issue, but it will, along with restructuring player salaries, tie up United's finances for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile Pep made no bones about what he wants - a team, system and ethos that transform the club long term.

For what it's worth, I don't think this destroys our chances of getting Kroos or Bonucci at all.
Kroos - does he want to come here? He's had every opportunity to show that he doesn't, as with Bayern, but on the contrary always appears open to it. Trigger his release clause then offer him doubled wages to reunite with pep.
Bonucci - I'm not convinced Juve will sell him even if they keep Pogba, but if they do it's because of financial concerns and maximising their return on a 29 year old CB. i don't think they want to do it regardless though.

Who knows? Maybe we'll get one or both anyway, don't underestimate the draw of Pep or perhaps we will pick off a few replacements like Thiago etc.

I hope we are not going to subsidise the bulk of RM's Pogba bid, significantly overpaying for Kroos, to stop the rags getting Pogba?

I certainly don't want the rags to get Pogba, but FFP still seems our biggest constraint with new signings.

Ideally, would rather we competed and signed Pogba ourselves. If this is not possible then we should only pay the market rate for Kroos.

All too often we seem to pay a huge "City tax" with our acquisitions, and buying clubs expect incredible bargains with our sales.
it really really isn't.

Doesn't sound ridiculous at all mate.

Which is why, I too, would be very unhappy to see Pogba join the scum.... Even if Pep has deemed him surplus to requirements.

Particularly if it's gonna stop us getting Kroos/Bonucci.

Each close season, when they were in the ascendency, in the 70's & 80's, the red dippers would always sign the best 2 or 3 players, from which ever teams that they considered would pose the most threat to them the following year. Even if they weren't good enough to go straight into the first team, it still left their nearest challengers weaker & less effective.

We seem to be on pretty good terms with Real, at the moment, I'm sure there must be a way we can "help" them to get the deal done. Particularly if that's where Pogba really wants to go.

True, We don't get him, but neither would Maureen.... Job Done!!

Was going to post the same....£100m on Pogba no thanks, bring in 2 quality players yes please.

Totally agree Akiva, that is his ethos and not long term planning.

I trust Pep on this. He has a system he wants to play and it's obvious that Pogba doesn't fit into it.

The window closes at the end of August. Would people stop flapping.
