You're overthinking things. Mourinho's game never changes, it's the three year plan - year 1 he buys the bus, year 2 he parks the bus, year 3 he throws the club under the bus.
Here we are and Mou has made a number of flashy signings that smack of "win now, consequences later" and crushing the world transfer record for Pogba is just part of it. Is Pogba better than MSN and Bale? That's another issue, but it will, along with restructuring player salaries, tie up United's finances for the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile Pep made no bones about what he wants - a team, system and ethos that transform the club long term.
For what it's worth, I don't think this destroys our chances of getting Kroos or Bonucci at all.
Kroos - does he want to come here? He's had every opportunity to show that he doesn't, as with Bayern, but on the contrary always appears open to it. Trigger his release clause then offer him doubled wages to reunite with pep.
Bonucci - I'm not convinced Juve will sell him even if they keep Pogba, but if they do it's because of financial concerns and maximising their return on a 29 year old CB. i don't think they want to do it regardless though.
Who knows? Maybe we'll get one or both anyway, don't underestimate the draw of Pep or perhaps we will pick off a few replacements like Thiago etc.
