Paul Pogba

I've literally just heard that one of the terms for Zlatan to join United, was that Pogba would be joining.

Hate to say that I fully believe that this will happen
That could be that then, a good signing for them if true. Together with mourinho, Mkhitaryan and Ibra they will be strong challengers next season imo.

But as someone else said recently, we can't stop them buying a team. We're doing our bit with the new manager and a couple of good signings that fit to his way of playing. Should be fun times ahead.

Get the feeling it's the end of the beginning in our quest to knock those fuckers off their perch. Stop the moaning one winning the league for the next 2 seasons and there's nowhere for them to go. Popcorn at the ready.

If we'd let a player go on a free transfer and tried to buy back for a world record fee and for over 100m the media would slaughter us. Somehow this has been ignored by the press. It says a lot about both the Utd and the media this deal.

They're already knocked off their perch mate, desperately trying to get back on it with this insane purchase

The problem is that in real terms Pogba's improvement as a footballer over the last two years has been absolutely minimal. If you look back at his performances and his stats over that period they've been relatively consistent. They're not bad numbers, but equally they aren't really 'world class' numbers. He's definitely got individual skills, but being able to do a bunch of step overs really quickly doesn't make you world class (just ask Nani).

What i expected to see, particularly in the season just gone, was Pogba being played further forward for Juve and really stepping up a level. Instead he's remained at the same level in terms of his output. He will improve the rags because their midfield options are pretty shit. But he won't be the difference between them winning the league and not winning it.

If you actually look, at Juventus they played him as a LM last season, even with Khedira missing a few months.

That in itself speaks volumes to me, he doesn't yet have the guile or quality to control a game in the CM position.

Oh, it's desperate alright. For me, he's in the third tier of players in world football. There's Messi and Ronaldo, followed by Aguero, Bale, Suarez and then a larger group of players who have the potential to be world class, including de Bruyne, Pogba and James. Even in today's ridiculous market, in terms of footballing ability, these players are worth around the £65m mark. It is a gamble and as we've seen with James they don't always work out. Not that they'll give a shit about the price if they win the league.

Calma Calma..They're not buying a Suarez/Messi/CR7,players who when you see on the team sheet make you nervous...A highly marketable player for their corporate club definitely,a game changer/match winner he will never be for me..He doesn't read and understand the game & situations enough, sth that is inbred & can't be coached for a midfielder, for a defender yes.

Nowhere near winning the league, top 4 at best, even if they do sign Pogba. He's still not the finished article. Rooney ain't getting any younger, Zlatan is already an old man and you can only score so many freak goals in the Prem.

I'm really excited to see what Pep is going to do with this new look City side. Pogba who? :)

I hope you're right. The current odds have them as 2nd favs, without the Pogba signing factored in (if it happens). Don't forget they'll get a lot of 'help' next season. You don't spend that kind of money without a media wankfest which inevitably trickles down to our wonderful premier league referees.

I don't think they have enough to beat us on a level playing field but I do expect some 'questionable' decisions.

I'm more worried about Chelsea then the rags with or without pogba
Conte Is a genius
Maureen is a ego manic and pantomime dame

Can't see rags in the top 3

why are people getting their knickers in a twist over the fee or them buying him back? On paper it is funny but other than the fans hypocrisy on spending it pretty much counts for nothing. We joke that United give it, we didn't want him anyway yet hundreds of blues are. This thread was mental last year when we wanted him

De Gae's arguably the best keeper in the league
True.
Darmian, Bailey, Smalling and Shaw looks a decent back 4 on paper, a bit light in the back up department however.
Darmian had disappointing first season there. Smalling OK in PL but found out by elite strikers. If he played for anyone but rags would give away 6 pens per season.Bailly???, Shaw coming back from bad injury may be OK maybe not. If they get Fabinho that would be a good move for them.
Bog brush, Pogba and Rooney is arguably better than Gundogan, Nasri and KDB.
Schneiderlin, Carrick and Herrara's more than decent back up.
Schneiderlin, Mata and Herrara may go. Carrick and Rooney move like a glacier. Rooney will be a support striker or expensive bench rider IMO.

Mikeywhatshisname, Ibra and Martial screams goals.
They, plus Rashford, will convert many chances to goals. Will they get enough service?

City, United and Chelsea have by far and away the strongest squads. I'd be amazed if any of them missed out on top 4
Top 4 certainly. Champions? Nah, not for me, Jeff.
