He lived on the wimpey and barratt estate off Burnage lane. Next to the old Renold Chain factory.Remember Him coming down to Fog Lane Park and taking training with my team at Beaver Road school 35 years ago! He gave us a load of JD sports key rings. Has a great career in the game. I hope he fights it well and is healthy again soon.

Football not like this anymore ! My favourite player at the time !
Good luck Simmo!
Bald headed Peter Willis. I often wondered if it left a circular, pie shaped mark on his stupid, bald head.Drew 0-0 with Oldham at home. Andy May sent off and someone in the Main Stand threw a pie at the ref!
That ref was Peter Willis. A couple of weeks later he sent off Kevin Moran in the cup finalDrew 0-0 with Oldham at home. Andy May sent off and someone in the Main Stand threw a pie at the ref!
Pretty sure Mickey Francis mentions it in his book.During the Cheesy interview Simmo mentioned some fans had gotten into the dressing room at half time against Notts County wanting to remonstrate with the players. We were 3-0 down. Made me laugh. They must've been livid. Apparently big Mick McCarthy was the only one interested in arguing with them. Be interesting to see of any bluemooners know about this incident or had friends involved.
