I thought it was to do with up front v instalments? Release clause is only valid if the full amount is paid upfront or something like that?
I think there are tax implications as well. Read that somewhere, that it's not always just a case for clubs to meet the release clause.
Whilst I cannot proclaim to be an expert on the subject, it is my understanding that Pedro's greatest attributes are entirely different to those of de Bruyne's, and thus would seem a peculiar alternative.
Pedro would of brought something different to the team.

You normally talk a lot of sense Kiam but I think this is rather harsh on Pedro who is more than half decentPedro is a squad filler at best.

I don't think he has hit a dip in form I think he's simply been found out. Been saying it since they signed him, he's little more than an uglier van horseface in my eyes. Scores but does little else.
Can't see Pedro going to Chelsea he'd take the same role there as he would at City which is the same role he's currently got at barca. First man off the bench and first in when there's an injury.
