Pellegrini - Job done ?

His job is to win trophies. You can't win one every year - even the best managers have trophy less seasons. Let's judge him at the end of the season. It's relatively likely that we'll win a domestic double this year (despite our current form!). If we did you'd have to look back at 4 trophies in a 3 year spell as a very good return from a good manager. On the other hand, if we win nothing this year, 2 trophy less seasons in a row would be poor given our squad. Wait and see what he achives.
You can, it's just not very easy.

I believe minus his year out Pep has.

Spot on.

Why would we want to take a 3 year break from advancing ourselves as a club whilst we wait around for Pep?

Also Khaldoon looked like he wanted to murder someone during his end of season summary, perhaps he didn't get the memo telling us to coast along for 3 seasons until Pep was ready.

This isn't to say Pep wasn't a long term ambition, but 5 trophies expected during Manuel's term doesn't sound like us just wanting to wait around for Guardiola.
The minimum requirement was five trophys from 5 seasons the day pellegrini started coming from Fa cup, pl and the cl. So half way through only one has been achieved. If we dont win one of the big ones this season pep's going to have to bag four in his first two years :)

Whatever the reasons for his employment, he has underachieved (even if he stumbles to the league title this year)

That quote was taken out of context you need to read the whole interview, it wasn't a requirement that didn't include the league cup , more an aspiration of where the club wanted to be positioned.

It was most def a requirement and sorriano went further by saying we can have a fruitless campaign one year as long as the trophy count is made up in another. I would read his quotes again if i was you regarding the LC as it 100% does not count towards the five trophy target set.

You are spot on. He was employed because they trusted him to stop the arguments and implement the long term plans without question.

He was also fully aware that pep was their main man and that he was gone when he said yes and come the summer, he will happily walk away again without a bad word or any drama.

He won a double and i still think this season could end very well but his time is up and the summer cant come quick enough.

But we don't play anything at all like a Pep team- if anything Pep has more work to do following on from Pellegrini than he would have done if he followed Mancini, virtually no integration of youth players even in minor roles by Pellegrini of any note so Pep is starting from scratch on that front.

He has a harder job than most think in following Pellegrini-not a problem for me personally as we will see very soon in his tenure what he expects from the players and there responsibility's to the club and more so its fans.

Pellegrini had been handed one final throw of the dice when he rolled up at City, he wont be leaving any good footballing foundations of note for Pep when he arrives. I'd wager the players cant wait for him to leave.

I firmly believe, based on what I've been told, that Mancini was effectively a stand-in. So we've had 6 years of stand-in managers. We'd better hope Pep is worth the wait!

lets hope he also stays more than 3 seasons, a tad unfair on the guy to expect him to stamp his authority especially in Europe and also in the toughest league in the world to boot in such a short space of time-he's got more work to do than people think when he arrives.
