Pelligrini ensures legend status

He is class, and clearly has a soft spot for us. That is meaningful, if not “legend!”
I'd go with class. As in classy - not displaying anger or unduly upsetting anyone.

And soft spot. As in he refuses to criticize City or any former squad which he managed.

And he won a title - is that "legend" qualification?

But as a manager - he totally sucked. He did of course right the side following the disasters fallout with of the squad with Mancini - but quite honestly - you - hired as a manager - would have done so too - or virtually any human picked at random.

He won three trophies and in 2014 his team scored the highest number of goals in all competitions in the history of English football. Not bad for an ok manager.
How do you rank his tactics/strategy?

How do you rank his man-management/motivational skills?

What about his attention to detail - do you think for a moment that you or any competent manager would not have known the importance of point difference against Bayern in the UCL - the cup most important to our owner?

I sure has hell wouldn't have made this mistake - not in a bazillion goddamn years. And I'm not a manager and am not qualified to be one.

Do you rather think that you - given the squad's talent built up under Mancini could have done just as well - or better? Hell, I'm pretty confident that I could have equaled The Engineer's performance.

Pretty sure that this is the guy who didn't even know how goal difference mattered in a UCL league match against Bayern.

Brought in to steady the ship in the interim as we awaited Pep following Mancini's fallout with the squad. To Peller's credit he did right the ship... for one season. After which he lost the squad entirely - unable to motivate the team.

I don't like Pellers. I do not at all appreciate his inattention to detail. I do not understand why he cannot motivate players. I do not at all think that he's got any sort of great tactical/strategic nous.

For me - he's an OK manager - who prior to his tenure at City - had some good runs.

While at City - he did re-energize players who were fed up with Mancini - for one season - but so too would anyone not named, "Mancini." And the following season it was even worse than it was under Mancini.
"Even worse"

Love the sense of entitlement, as though finishing 2nd in the league is simply unacceptable

Makes me feel a bit upset and ashamed all those times I sagged him off.

Its a pity really, I would have really wanted him to win loads of stuff with us not just because it's our club, but he is truly nice and elegant gentleman.

Just a pity after that incredible 2014 season, Yaya went completely downhill and other managers figured out how a parked bus and long balls would be our kyrptonite.
I always thought he was a stop gap until we could get Pep - with his Barcelona mates on the board it was obvious he was coming to City - impossible not to like Pelligrini though - but he was a limited manager - I remember many times Sergio being the only player in the box when we attacked and his head dropping as he was surrounded by 5 or 6 defenders - the CL semi final v Real being the prime example - but yeah think most blues will always have respect for him and sounds like the feeling is mutual

I've seen worse seasons
Shit happens for sure :-)

Nonetheless - Pep is the world's best manager - and I back him 100%.

Whereas Pellers - is OK - far below Mancini.

If you have a soft spot for Pellers for winning the title and behaving with class - OK.

But if you want my respect/admiration for Pellers as some sort of managerial genius - well... you lost me at the point of his inexplicable substitutions - lack of attention to detail - and loss of the dressing room in his 2nd season.

Everyone loses the dressing room these days.

I agree he's below Mancini but his record bears comparison to all but the most elite managers. Ffs man he led us to 3 trophies.

What you going to be like if god forbid Liverpool win it and us runners up then?
We’ve the better manager, the better squad, did Pep not motivate the players enough v Palace, Leicester or Newcastle?
Some shite you’ve posted in this thread. You don’t like him, fine but seriously mate...
