Penalty Taker

Who should take penalties if Haaland is not on the pitch?

I can only assume Erling didnt take it as he still had is thigh/leg issue?
My gut feeling at the time was that they had 100% prepared for Erling to take a penalty if awarded in the game and to be fair to Martinez he has a reputation of saving a fair few.
By letting Marhez take it would have scuppered that preparation.
Not saying that’s what happened, but just my thoughts

Haaland picked up a knock earlier on and rather than risk further aggravating the injury Gundogan pulled ranks and nominated Mahrez as the penalty taker just for that situation. Pep did sub Haaland at half time as precaution. As above tactically it made sense to switch takers (although risky with our record).

That is literally how I saw it, a strike of a penalty could have further aggrevated the injury he had

Not entirely sure why everyone is getting so caught up about it

I suspect those that are arguing that Haaland didn’t take the penalty are the same fans that have Haaland to score 40+ league goals @ 250/1.

Who knows? But if a player is that injured that literally kicking a football is likely to aggravate it, you have to wonder what the point of him even been on the pitch is?

Taking a penalty when your already 2 up is not the same as a last minute against high ranking opponents in the last minute to win the game.
Mahrez has often bottled the big ones - Liverpool away, West Ham away (good save) for example in what seem pivotal games.
As stated many times the players taking pens and the priority order should be nominated prior to kick off and only changed at the captains say so when having to manage an on pitch issue.
On Sunday the whole thing looked a bit unprofessional.

We did sub him at half time and didn't look like he could run it off

If Haaland is injured who would want to take the penalty?
