Penalty Taker

Who should take penalties if Haaland is not on the pitch?

Taking a penalty when your already 2 up is not the same as a last minute against high ranking opponents in the last minute to win the game.
Mahrez has often bottled the big ones - Liverpool away, West Ham away (good save) for example in what seem pivotal games.
As stated many times the players taking pens and the priority order should be nominated prior to kick off and only changed at the captains say so when having to manage an on pitch issue.
On Sunday the whole thing looked a bit unprofessional.
I reckon there is a priority order in place but then there is no accountnig for someone like Rodri doing what he did. However good he is in his position I can't believe he is anywhere near the top of the list of penalty takers in our team. He's taken one in the past for us and ok scored it but he was lucky and even Pep said after it that it was a poor pen.

If Haaland is injured who would want to take the penalty?
Are you asking this extrapolating from my criticism that I wouldn't want Mahrez to be taking it if Haaland couldn't?
If so you'd be wrong - Mahrez is our second best penalty taker imo, although not sure big Earl has had a real big one with consequence on it yet to measure the difference, although he is a confident boy.
1. Haaland
2. Mahrez
3. Gundogan
4. Alvarez
5. KDB

If it was a penalty shoot out, Eddie would be on this list of top 5

In a man bites dog way we all perceive our penalty conversion rate to be an absolute disaster but I’d be interested if anybody has stats for what the conversion rates are both for our penalties and opposition penalties in matches during Pep’s tenure.

I bet there’s not much in it

Its the unprofessional bit I picked upon. Rodri was over keen in taking it but Gundogan stopped that from happening despite the 'discussion'

It looks like a sensible solution Gundo came up with bearing in mind that Haaland was going to the touch line for treatment. Anyway, it worked!

Not a worry but we don't have many back up penalty takers now Mahrez and Gundog have left. It is going to be interesting to find out who is the next in line after Haaland.

Atleast we have the undisputed penalty taker now. I'm still pissed that he gives his penalty spot to Gundo, i know he is being kind but he needs to understand that we are still middle of title races back then. No room for sentiment and every goal is counted for winning the match.

But again when Haaland is off the pitch who would take it? Both were good penalty takers
