Penalty Taker

Who should take penalties if Haaland is not on the pitch?

I actually don’t understand any professional footballer not wanting to take a penalty. It’s your job to kick a ball. You should be pretty decent at it. If you don’t fancy yourself from 12 yards with no defenders blocking the goal, maybe sports psychology is needed. If I had the fitness and the ability to play this game professionally, I’d be the one legging it to grab the ball whilst players are congratulating the guy that won it. Fuck the congrats, I want to score! I’d probably not start the next matches due to disobeying team orders, but I want the pen!

Same. I want him to take the ball but he must have no confidence with penalties, which is baffling considering his striking technique. Has he ever taken one for us in a shootout? Or has he never been on the pitch for one? I can’t remember. The way he wants every free kick, you’d think he’d want every penalty too.

Its strange isn't it given how well he can hit a ball! Whenever I watch the warm up before a match its always interesting seeing the players practicing finishing. Milner used to hardly ever miss and his penalty record is immense, with De Bruyne's technique you would expect him to be the same. It must just be down to him not wanting to take them for whatever reason.

Franny Lee had a great technique - blast right in the middle of the goal. If the goalie hadn't moved the force of the ball hitting him would put him in the back of the net along with the ball.

Rodri and Zinchenko - Gundogan is a good penalty taker but I don't like his short run-up style

Gundogan is not a bad shout but will he still be on the pitch to take (assuming we will get any more this season) if Aguero is out/off the pitch as well. I would tempted to give Gabby another go but a bit more practise is in order.

Jesus is a dreadful penalty taker, club and country.

Not massively confident in any of ours. Bring back Yaya.

I was screaming at the telly when he stepped up for the first one! He's terrible at penalties. I'm sure I saw Pep furiously gesturing for someone else to take the 2nd one. I mean FFS, he hit the 2nd one that badly that the keeper was probably shocked how shit it was, dived past it and knocked it back into his path. He got very lucky and shouldn't be anywhere near them in future.

EXACTLY!!

Thinks that because he put one in the “top bins” at Wembley, he is a penalty taker! Mental how bad they both were...second worse than the first!

Gundogan is my first choice.

That said, hard to think of anyone else who inspires confidence!

Pick your side, run up, leather it. Done.

Will score far more than you’ll miss.

182 sq ft, of which the keeper can cover about 18. Hit the 90% of the goal the keeper can’t cover and you DEFINITELY score. Hit about 12 that he can cover and you still have a good chance of scoring if you hit it well.

So, we are really talking about NOT HITTING about 6 out of 182 sq ft between the posts and below the bar. ANY PROFESSIONAL WHO CANT REGULARLY DO THAT NEEDS A SLAP!

The fella is playing soccer probably 15 years. At a high level 6/7 years. Hes still missing the target. We have to have someone more accurate then that

Of course Gabby has to improve but part of it is psychology which can improve in time. He is still a youngster

Why do people say KDB. It's obvious he doesn't fancy it, he never steps up in penalty shoot outs and he's also missed when he did take one.
