Penalty Taker

Who should take penalties if Haaland is not on the pitch?

Shit because the average conversion rate for penalties is around 76% and Mahrez's average is that he misses one on three. Greedy because, even knowing he's shit, he doesn't hand the ball to Gundo who is 15 for 17 in his career.

He’s not the manager. He doesn’t decide who takes penalties. I think as someone else has said, it’s pretty obvious Gundogan doesn’t fancy them, despite his decent record. And no manager is going to insist a player takes them who tells him he rather not.

Missing the amount we have is criminal. Plain and simple. Its fucked us on more than one occasion also since Pep arrived. Is it now 25 penalties missed under Pep?

It is laughable Mahrez was anywhere near the one tonight, considering the last ones hes taken with any pressure. He obviously scores 100% of the time in training and nobody else wants them.

Only a month ago Gundo slotted in a perfect penalty v England at Wembley.
Mind boggling what is going on with us on pens.
For how much Mahrez contributes generally, we may as well have Mario in the wing just in case we get a pen

Yaya and Mario, both incredible from the spot.

£150 million bid for Ivan Toney in January. £2 million a week wages and just bring him on for pens and then sub him straight off again.

Not that it would be a good idea but it would be enough to finally see off Klopp and half the media.

Wouldn’t be so bad Mahrez missing a pen if he was contributing on the pitch generally. Personally, I am more concerned at the level of his performance than missed pens. He was dire tonight (again)
Totally agree, he was even worse on Satuday, which makes it all the more baffling that he started again tonight.

Even more baffling that he was given the responsibility of PT. Crazy when something might be on the line. Hopefully that’s the last penalty he takes.

Pep has said in the past that he lets the players decide who takes the penalty. So the manager doesn’t decide! But he also seemed to hint in the post match that he might rethink this approach because 25 missed penalties is dismal.

Whose to say Ilkay wouldn’t be fine taking penalties if there was a clear defined rotation, and he clearly knew when he was up and when someone else was?

Should be a simple list, just like the Captains!

1. Haaland
2. Gundo
3. KDB
4. Foden
5. Bernardo

… or some such, based on who is on the field at the time.
