Pep’s Spurs (H) Post-Match Interview

It has pissed off Michael Owen and other pundits and they are saying we think we're entitled, but its a coming of age for City fans because finally:

We're not going to accept mediocrity anymore!

To the rags and the older blues it was always dreamland (bad/ good). Those boos have made it clear, we don't want a dream, we want normality.

And it terrifies the Rags fans!

We've paid our dues and are not the same club that is okay with 0 goals scored at home for half a season!
When you said we've paid our dues , I thought you were going to break out into we are the champions.

wembley 99 bradford 89 they didn't come after nearly 10 years of domination that was born out of constant disappointment 30 years of it, having the team you love being rubbed in your face , in 99 we were shit we struggled to get out of the 3rd division , we saw hope and until kev fired one in that hope had been crushed, nowadays if we aren't playing like 1970s brazil after 5 minutes the slapped arses start

matey, it's the same no matter what level you're at, if you're losing fans will not be happy and let the players know, I will say in defence of the fans booing last night, it bloody well worked, not only the players but Pep woke up and smelt the coffee.

the whole setup this season has not been right ? maybe because of new challenges in arsenal and united we fought well, they will blow up soon, also with Liverpool and Chelsea are miles behind, again we are OK in just doing enough.

maybe Pep felt for the first time at Manchester city a bit under pressure to deliver his magic, maybe he feels the players let him down, or the fans let him down, but the truth is the manager takes the bad with the good, if he feels the fans should not be booing, then give them the keys to the dressing room and let us say to the players that was fucking shit ? but we don't get that chance, our only way of saying so is to boo them off,

Believer me pep over the years has torn them a new arsehole at half-time and full-time

Yes. It would be great if the club put as much energy into defending and helping our fans instead of throwing us under the bus and encouraging the people who despise us in the media. Perhaps I am in a minority but what Pep said after the match did not motivate me as a supporter in the slightest. I thought it was a lack of respect.
Turned on World Service before and they were going on about our fanbase. It's everywhere, I'm sorry but he has done us no favours with what he had to say.

We are in a win or lose business.
He is firing us all up to go for 5 from 7.

I’m in and cannot wait for Sunday.

I am in the middle. It was a rallying cry against complacency and he didn't actually criticise. However it is a stick to beat us. It happens when you are good. Ferguson and Keane said stuff about the Old Toilet twenty years ago.

the more time it passes, in what pep said, the more I am thinking we were being used ? Brentford, Everton, at home Southampton and United away, shocking display was that the fan's fault too ? sorry pep, the fans can see it and I think the booing was your wake-up call,

we are seeing big holes in the defence setups long before last night, the back 4 is never settled and change week in week out, so mistakes are bound to happen if we don't build a solid base in defence,

hate this, changing the back 4 and covering the left back role with a centre back ? better teams will smell it a mile off, i will bet if we look back on the silly goals we are leaking, 80% of the time it's come down our left, both last night were from mistakes on the left, the first goal Ederson will take the blame, but AKE did not need to pass it back when spurs was still in the press with 3 or 4 players, a left back runs the ball out or kicks it up field because the centre back is shouting away,

I'm still not sure how much Pep likes City fans, if he thought English fans were going to be like the ultras that infest European clubs then he was sadly misguided. Not just City fans but the vast majority of prem grounds are shit atmosphere wise, I don't think the spurs game would've been any different to any other home game this season , it's been flat at City for a very long time. Just a few hundred boos that have caused him to lose his shit

Wow. Booing was for ref, not players.
injuries have resulted in an unsettled back 4.
I don’t feel used at all. Privileged to have seen football like I will never see again and that I have never seen before.
Used. Dont make me laugh.
You are entitled to your opinion but just wow.

I get the feeling when he finally leaves City he will have fond memories of working with wonderful owners, the backroom staff, the past and present players and the away fans but won't miss the home support.

Overall he is, you and the ones who criticise will be the same ones who complain about our next Manager when Pep has gone and we're scrapping for top 4. He's an elite Manager and we're very lucky to have him, you should appreciate that.
I do appreciate Pep…his passion, his mentality, his commitment, I would not have any other manager in the world but I don’t have blind faith that he is infallible

There are a number of players that are woefully out of form… cancelo, KDB, foden, edersen, Gundo, Bernado…. Haaland aside if the season ended tomorrow, Ake or Lewis would probably be our player of our season… for this squad and team that is under performing… as the manager that is the responsibility of one person and one person solely

My opinion (like arseholes, every one has one) is his obsession of controlling the game and limiting chances is a major part of the problem. When we attacked Spurs directly last night (rather than playing like a rugby league side of constantly passing side wards and backwards) we showed that they were for the beating and the players started to show confidence…. The chances… the goals… and ultimately the result all followed

Can appreciate your comments but everyone makes mistakes, Pep makes less than most and takes action. As you say some players aren't way out of form and that can't be down to Pep. Who would have thought KDB, Bernie, Foden and Cancelo would all fall off the same cliff? It's beyond comprehension and hopefully something we can rectify. Love the attitude of Julian, Rico, Erling and Stones. Hopefully with a near full squad Pep can give the players a kick up the arse that some of them need.

I’m hoping last night was a turning point and he releases the handbrake a little - hopefully we will find out on Sunday

It is interesting that so many teams are having a drop off in comparative form… liverpool, Chelsea, spurs, West Ham and palace… so,perhaps the players are just mentally/physically shot

Creativity is most certainly a problem. We used to create something like 10/15 chances per game. Desperately trying to score without a no 9. This season we only need to give Haaland 2/3 decent balls and struggle to do so. It’s a typical city problem. Stop overthinking and overplaying the ball and pass it into space for the big fella to have a shot. It’s like we got used to playing a certain way and can’t change it up.

Not utilising Haaland is a disgrace tbh.
