This is old news, surely you’ve read about this complete dominance in every media outlet for the past few months...

A key difference between Pep and Klopp at yesterday's game. After full time, Klopp was sauntering around patting his players on the back, but Pep was dragging players to one side coaching and coaching and coaching. Clearly not talking abut the penalties to come, but just trying to make each and every player better.

Pep Guardiola on the upcoming season: “Never when I start the season do I have to win one title, or two, four or five - That is ridiculous. Tomorrow is trying to win, playing well, making mistakes to improve for next time and trying to play better in the next game..."

“That is the way to arrive in April or May, to try and have success. Sometimes you have a good result, but you don’t play well. You don’t have success. The key point from in our view is always to play better, individually and collectively."

“The best athletes work incredibly hard. There is no rest. Football players turn 35, 36 and it’s over. After, they can party, but when you are here you have to work harder. What we did last season will not be enough. We have to do more." [via @ManCity]

Mikel Arteta on the upcoming season: “We want to train better than the day before. If you try to repeat what you have done, it’s impossible. It’s not achievable..."

“What is achievable is tomorrow. How we train our players better, how we make our players better, how we change, restructure and improve our system, how we collectively challenge each other to be better tomorrow.” [via @ManCity]

Mikel Arteta on the importance of rest over summer: “Some players are ready after three or four days. We talk to each other and say ‘he is ready to play a final tomorrow.’ Other plays take a bit longer..."

“Mentally it was a really tough season. Some players played with their international teams after, so they need a break. That break can take weeks, sometimes it can take months. It’s a very individual thing.”

Pep Guardiola on maintaining high standards: “First of all they love to play football. They felt that it is nice to win the Premier League, it’s nice to win the titles. They want to play, they have a deep squad and they compete with each other.” [via @btsportfootball]
