It’s the one thing that Pep has consistently said is the hardest part of his job , having to tell players that they haven’t made the eleven or the squad

he expects players to back his decisions and not give him the ‘sad face’

he’s made pointed comments about Mahrez in the past in this respect

All these players have massive egos , it must sting when they are the ones to be left out, especially coming off the back of a loss

to be part of Manchester City you are signing up to compete for EVERY trophy, to do that you have to have a deep squad, which means rotation

if you can’t accept that then you have to move on, whoever you are
Absolutely spot on. Simply not possible to compete for all four trophies without squad rotation. What Pep is doing is unprecedented, the guy is clearly trying to keep all squad members engaged, whilst still delivering the results. Get with the program or do one.

Giving Sterling the armband would be a fantastic gesture, and given Pep is the ultimate man manager who seems to deal with a situation without grudge....i can see it happening.

I suspect this nonsense has already been sorted, and hopefully Sterling responds accordingly.
Raz is part of the leadership group hes been captain numerous times this season I think hes 3rd inline

Who as in who was I speaking to? Someone who has close connections to the club. I did tell him that I think he is wrong about this but he was 100% convinced about the whole thing. Went as far to say that he won't play at all on Tuesday but as I say I told him it was BS.

Sterlings even come out and said its all false

Bottom of article

Sterling saying it's false doesn't mean anything. If he's going to say something publicly then he's always going to say it isn't true.

I'd be pretty surprised if this doesn't happen plenty of times a season and if Laporte, Cancelo, Aguero, Sterling, Foden, Gundogan and the rest haven't all had a falling out with the manager over game time. Didn't Foden get left at home during a Champions League away game last season? They're all competitive players and want to play. Guardiola knows what that feels like and how to deal with it.

Not saying it is true, by the way, and I'm sure it's been embellished by the time we're seeing people posting about it on twitter but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if the basic premise was true.

For me the difference was Sterling wasn't even in the squad.

Playing well or poorly, Pep has stuck with him until now
