Didn't he say the tweet was false, not what Ric quoted?
Sterling saying it's false doesn't mean anything. If he's going to say something publicly then he's always going to say it isn't true.
I'd be pretty surprised if this doesn't happen plenty of times a season and if Laporte, Cancelo, Aguero, Sterling, Foden, Gundogan and the rest haven't all had a falling out with the manager over game time. Didn't Foden get left at home during a Champions League away game last season? They're all competitive players and want to play. Guardiola knows what that feels like and how to deal with it.
Not saying it is true, by the way, and I'm sure it's been embellished by the time we're seeing people posting about it on twitter but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if the basic premise was true.
We all would,it all boils down to the reaction though.I’d be more worried if players weren’t pissed off at not playing.
Okay, but we have no reason to believe that's what happened.A bit of over-analysis going on here. Pep is the manager, nothing else matters.
If my boss gave me a 'talking to' with reasons, and told me to step up, I know what I would do..... I'd listen.... and fucking step up, no ifs or buts. End of story.
Yeah, perfectly natural to want to play, but simply impossible to play every game when you’re going for four trophies. It’s important that the squad is rotated and equally important that each member of the squad accepts and understands this. I’m sure Pep wants players who are disappointed when they don’t play, but he also wants them to be intelligent enough to accept his need to manage everyone’s game time and to trust him to do it in the best interests of the squad. I’m also sure Pep is keen to promote a working environment where everyone feels valued and encouraged to voice opinions that run counter to the management narrative, but there is a line not to be crossed and it seems Sterling has crossed it on this occasion. Hopefully the player accepts his punishment and the manager in turn feels the matter is closed and we move on.I’d be more worried if players weren’t pissed off at not playing.
