You can’t be known as one of the best European teams without actually winning it. It would be an odd sell. Remember most of Europe are not really that arsed with how many times an English side has won the premier.
The general consensus will be Pep isn’t very good at winning the champions league anymore. The reason for this is simply because Pep isn’t very good at winning the champions league anymore.
That's what annoys me. If UCL was a super league, we would have won it at least 3 times in the last 5 years. I have no doubt we are the best team because we dominated and deserved to win against Liverpool and Madrid who are the finalists, and we are above liverpool in our league.

What annoys me is we won't get that recognition unless we win UCL. But we will. Especially with an elite striker

Agreed about Klopp. He’s the best manager the English game has seen since Ferguson. Bar none.
Its not just that he has won a league title and come second with 97 points, and it isn’t even that he has won one, (probably two in a couple of weeks) CLs as well as making a third final.
For me it is that his whole team, whomever he picks, plays with a confidence and arrogance that only the very best managers can instill.
Liverpool never ever look beaten. They always play with a belief that they will find a way to win. Think back to the turn around against Barcelona the other year. Does anybody think City under Pep would or could turn around a first leg deficit like that? No chance. He would have spent the week leading up to that second leg telling everyone who listened that Barcelona deserved to be there and we were still learning to play like a big club.

I think he’s great and I’d be delighted to see him extend as over a long season his deficiencies can be overcome with the quality of players he has been provided with, but I’m sorry he is second to Klopp in terms of his overall ability as a manager.
Pep takes great players and keeps them great, albeit whilst flogging them to death.
Klopp takes great players and makes them believe they are unbeatable and makes very good players into beasts.

A Klopp side would not have thrown away a two goal lead going into injury time against a poor Madrid side. Our players look, and have done for some time now, like a group that cannot function instinctively. The moment Madrid scored their first we went to pieces as our ability to play through setbacks has been exhaustively coached out of us.
And why the fuck doesn’t he use our youth set up more. No point in spending millions setting up the best academy in the world if we then let it’s highest potential lads move to rivals for peanuts because they cannot get sensible game time at City. Thank god Foden is a city fan or else no doubt would have left as well.

He’s a great manager. Only a fool would suggest otherwise, but he isn’t quite the very top level a la a Ferguson or a Klopp or a clough.
Sure the manager with best ratio of titles/season of modern history(and of all time I think), and the manager that almost everyone agrees created the best team in modern history(Barcelona), who has also managed the best English side ever in domestic competition(according to stats) is not at the very top level. I can assure you in 100 years Pep will still be talked as one of the all time greats, Klopp will not. Pep has revolutioned football in the way its played, and winning the most titles of anyone with that.

I guess you must think Zidane is a great manager because he won 3 UCL. Don't get me wrong, Klopp is an incredible manager, the best after Pep by far, but Pep is/will be a top 5 manager of all time and Klopp will never be even close to that.

Can’t believe some of the shite I’m reading here about how Klopp is a better manager than Pep. Six seasons he has been in charge of the dippers and this is the first time he has actually given any respect to our domestic trophies.

He plays the same team week in, week out. His players never get injured even although they play more minutes than KDB and Bernardo.

Van Dijk got injured last year and where were they in the league, champions league, fa cup and the League cup? No where! We have significant players injured for months and Pep adapts to make us competitive in everything

They are one dimensional and rely totally on their front 3 to bring the results.

Klopp has learned the benefits of the trademark Guardiola high press and has adopted it successfully this year but let’s not delude ourselves that Liverpool have not been lucky and deserved their success. They have benefitted from some very poor refereeing, extremely late goals and very favourable cup draws.

The quadruple is not in their hands, it’s in the hands of Tuchel, Ancelotti and Guardiola.

There is no feckin way Klopp could deal with the shite that Pep has to put up with every week from the press and media. He is very fortunate that he can do and say what he likes without retribution and that includes running on to the middle of the pitch to celebrate (Everton), bullying 4th officials, linesmen and referees.

Remember that this was the man who said that our declaration of innocence at CAS was a bad day for football. He is a feckin twat of the highest order and any city fan coming on here and saying he is a better manager than Pep needs to have a long hard look in the mirror.
Never mind looking in the mirror…they would be lucky not to get their face put through the ducking mirror. Ungrateful duplicitous twats.

Can’t be real city fans.

His latest conference is just another example of the man Pep is, any other manager would be feeling sorry for themselves right now.

Imagine the excuses Klopp would be coming out with, the self pity seeping from every pore of his body and the press would be licking his arse for it. Whereas, with Pep some of them tried to put some stats together, to show it's all his fault(even when the "overthinking" catchphrase is completely invalid), to rub salt in the wound, yet they still haven't got a rise out of him. Klopp would be frothing at the mouth before the press conference even began, if people came after him like that. I've seen quite a few people say they wonder how Klopp would do at City recently. Personally, I don't think he could handle certain aspects that would come with taking the role on at City.

People forget how worshipped Pep was before he came to City. The disrespect, attempts to downplay his achievements, label him a failure every season, default dismissal of blatant incorrect calls that decide results, suggestions that he isn't mentally strong after every defeat(ignoring that he has less defeats than most managers) and the general amount of shit he gets from certain press members(including accusations of bungs, attempts to call him a hypocrite for supporting Catalan independence just because he manages City) all due solely to their allegiances...

All of that came from the fact that he chose to come to City and put peoples noses out of joint by doing so. Then they consoled themselves in the hope that he wouldn't stay long: "3 years and he'll be off" they said. He's ended up staying longer at City(as manager) than any other club and could well extend his contract again. They seem to ramp up the anti-Pep shite, the closer he is to making a decision on extending. They seem to want to turn the club's boardroom and fans against him too, with some of their takes. He'll know all of that and yet he continues to stick his neck out for the club, defending it the only way he knows how(okay sometimes he doesn't get it right but it's with the best intentions) and he does so in a manner that I for one respect and appreciate, more often than not.

I don't get how any City fan can't see how lucky we are to have him.
Top post.

Just watched the press conference and came on here to say something similar but you said it better than I ever could.

There is something to be said for that. Pep recently said he likes to work with a small group of players, but I think he underestimates the toll it takes. KdB having to leave the pitch cost us the CL. He's a player that needs to be played with as few minutes as possible as he suffers terribly from fatigue and injuries. I wish Pep would play more younger players in games that are clearly won, and take off our critical players.
How often is a game "clearly won", 89 minutes ?

I think we might need an elite goalkeeper too.. Ederson's really good for our playstyle but whenever we lose.. I always feel a keeper who's more of an actual shot stopper could have stopped some of the goals we give up.

Yes an elite keeper with all of Ederson's qualities, who is an "actual shot stopper" (Pickford/Kasper ??) who won't mind staying awake for 90 minutes to miraculously save a shot/header from 5 yards out, who will cut off attacks before they develop, who will dive on every ball that is flashed across the box, Golden Gloves winner, virtually unbeatable. The grass is always greener isn't it, we've struck gold but it is not enough, we lose,it melts. So who is this elite (even unique) keeper willing to sit on the bench and wait his turn. I know the man we need, Clarence "Tubby" Morton. I know it's 2022 and he may have to drop the "Tubby" moniker but there is always a chance he might persuade Roy (not the Haaland lover) to sign on as well. What a headline grabber for the Daily Fail, imagine the tweets of derision from "real" City fans.
