Without doubt I think Pep is our best manager ever but he really does make some strange decisions sometimes, The team today was absolutly crying out for changes, even from half time, but to leave it so late to bring mahrez on was just madness & I think he only came on because jesus got injured.

hopefully we can get it done but we have not been great since December

He also needs to show a bit more respect to the FA Cup. His obsession with CL is astounding.

Can't believe a manager of his calibre showed an inept show of empathy today with some of that starting 11.

Fernandinho hasn't played hardly all season amd he selects him to play against Liverpool in a semi final.??

Same with Zinchenko. He's hardly played for personal reasons.

And Steffen is no Ederson.

Out of all the managers we've had in the past I thought Pep would be the one to throw sentiment to one side.

He's got the balls but I think he left them in Madrid mid week.

It's not sentiment. The cup goalkeeper plays the cup games. Rodri needed a rest and Fernandinho is his understudy. Walker is out, Dias is just coming back from injury, and Laporte needed a rest too, so in comes Zinchenko, the only other fullback we have.

That's the squad he's working with

I’ve just looked at the line ups for the other 4 games we’ve played in the FA Cup this season and today was arguably the weakest team we’ve put out so far. It was also a weaker team than the one we played in the CL dead rubber vs Leipzig. I appreciate there are reasons for it, but I really think going forward he needs to start playing much weaker teams in those sorts of games so our main players aren’t absolutely knackered come the end of the season.

That‘s pretty much how I see it. No real issue with the team selection.
Do think he should have made a couple of changes sooner - felt with 20-25 mins to go there was a chance to have a real go at them. But can understand why he didn‘t.

There would have been had Jesus not missed a fucking certain goal for any decent striker. Had we gone 3-2 then, I think De Bruyne would have been on. As he missed, Pep didn’t think it was worth the risk.

He picked the correct team and was right not to make any subs due to the circumstances of the game after 45 mins.

He thought of the bigger picture but the thing is he’s now got to go secure that bigger picture and win the league and the Champs league.

Stood by his word to play his 'cup keeper' and paid the penalty. In my opinion, Steffen never looked comfortable at any point in the match.

If he'd picked Ederson, we'd probably be in the final. We could say exactly the same about last season

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Pep should have learned from it last season. There's no room for sentiment if you want to win trophies.

Could Pep have done better today? i think the answer has to be yes.

Hopefully,it will all be worthwhile if we lift the two trophies we are still in the race for.

I have to say though,i'm getting used to the routine now....
I'd write off the CL today so we can put everything into the PL.

Pep's brief is to win the CL. That's why he was brought to City. That's why he gets the big bucks. That's what he'll prioritise.

I said at the start of the season that I would see top 4 and a trophy as a great season in the absence of a striker. We're still on track...

I can understand not bringing on first team players, but we’ve got Liam Delap on the bench that is a proven goalscorer at EDS level. Nobody can tell me that Sterling is more likely to score a goal from half a chance than Delap. There’s nothing to lose throwing him on for the last 15 minutes.

wrong, Delap might get injured and then he misses important EDS games.
sounds stupid? yes I know, but thats the only plausible explanation

He is working on a different plane of thought to most of us, but that makes days like today, last seasons FA cup semi and the CL final so frustrating as he doesn’t seem able to accept his tactics/team selection aren’t working and to change even though it is obvious to us mere mortals. We needed to change it at half time. Why no Laporte? Marhez and De Byrne should have been on at half time. He is so stubborn and is happy to lose a big game rather than admit he’s got it wrong and change it

How “prolific” actually is Delap at EDS ?
