Whoa whoa whoa.

I agree that Pep messed up the line up, but how can you not blame the players too? They were shit.

It's not his fault they turned into morons.
They're not completely blameless, individual errors etc are their fault but in particular going forward, our lack of creativity I find hard to put on the attackers because it very quickly became obvious they were all being asked to check back and stick balls onto the back post as our main form of attack, they all did what was being asked, its just what they were being asked to do was shit.

He rarely gets it wrong but today he got it badly wrong, far more than anybody on the pitch, even the ones who were liabilities.

Spurs defended very deeply, it's tough to score but we still got 2 goals.

The problem for me was not so much in attack, it was the inability to control the transitions. I blame Pep partly for our setup somewhat, but for me, most of it HAS to be on the players. Gonna have to disagree with you on this.

Every team defends deeply, our slow build up and ability to keep the ball ensures all teams end up deep even if they don't intend on it, if we impose our game on them, thats what happens. We scored from a bad goalkeeping error and a penalty, we created next to nothing and spent most of the game putting in inswingers to the back post for 2 midgets to attack who were being tracked well.

I don't disagree our inability to deal with the quick break cost us dearly but for me the biggest reason for that was having Bernardo further up the pitch. Where he has been mopping up in recent big games and stopping that before they get a favourable run at our defence, we saw big gaps today where he would have been vs Chelsea or Liverpool for example which gave them time for them to pick that easy ball, then it turned into 1v1 defending which eventually will go against you if you rely on that too much. Granted our defenders didn't provide a good account of themselves and have to be doing better but I think peps tactics have left the players with a big handicap.

No problem disagreeing, it's just differing opinions on what's more important, we can't all think alike.

We agree on the problems in this game.

Especially re Bernie. The defensive errors are just more infuriating as they are individual mistakes imo, not tactical.

Very difficult to criticise Pep because of what he has achieved, but seeing how easily Spuds were getting through and how toothless we looked up front and not do anything, was a real head scratcher.

When he did make a sub, he hooked the wrong guy.
