Pep always used to talk about the fact that if we wanted to be serious CL contenders over a long-term period, we needed to be consistently making the final stages of the competition.

This is 3 semi-finals in a row. This might be setting us up for some long-term joy in this comp.

It’s been set up over the last 4/5/6 years mate.
No more setting up is required.
We need to win this and this year.

Why? What happens if we don't win it this year?

Real Madrid lost 3 semi-finals in a row before winning it in 2014. Those semi-finals gave Real Madrid the platform to continuously make that stage and convert one into a win.

We’ve had loads of decent chances in this comp which we have blown in the Pep era.
Who knows we may have a bad year in the comp next year!
The competition is getting better and better so how long do we just say well maybe next year?

It's not about saying 'maybe next year'.

It's about laying a foundation so that any year for the next ten years could be the year(s).

Don't like the could bit.
We have been the best club side in Europe for years yet not managed to win this competition.
We could fall away and be farther away in years to come, who knows?
Currently we are the team to beat so lets win it now and whatever happens in the future happens.

Too much insistence by the media on winning the CL. Was expecting a serious assault next year but I think we deserve to win it if it's this year given our QF and SF draw just like Madrid did last year

But we could also win it three years on the bounce from next year, who knows?

I see you are one of those optimist people:-)
After following us for 56 years I tend to look at the negative side.
I was absolutely gutted after the Chelsea game and still am and the same about the semi last year and we could carry on underperforming at the crucial times in this comp until I’m dead and I’m eager for a win as I grew up watching the “top” sides win the European cup and we were so far away it was like another sport and I was jealous but now it’s our time as we are the cocks and everyone knows it so let’s lift it

Is Pep getting funnier and funnier is his pressers, as in deliberately humourous? He certainly seems to be taking the pee out of the journos more.

Missed the first part of today's presser so will have to catch up later but the lattter part made me chuckle more than once.

Best line though was his sarcastic: "only 11 games" (to win the treble).

I hate the treble talk starting but the fact it has is yet another testament to the incredible job Pep is doing.

We need to prepare a 10-year contract extension for him, Chelsea-style. He is the Erling Haaland of coaching. Keeps on evolving this City team, a Blue through and through. There is no way we can ever directly replace him.

Thing is, we don't know if winning the CL means he's done here, time will tell. I just hope he still has the enthusiasm and energy to stay a while longer.

Pep Guardiola stats as Man City’s coach till today:
401 Games
291 wins
53 Draws
57 Losses
991 Goals scored
329 Goals against
662 Goals difference
11 Titles won
73% Win Rate

For me the 2 best achievements of City under Pep are:
A) That we are on 2 top teams of Premier League for 6th consecutive year!! The amount of focus, concentration, inner strength, ability etc to reach this is amazing. It's relatively "easy" to reach top once but to stay there for 6 years is very very very hard as sports history has shown.
B) That 18 win run in the magical 2017-18 season.

For Pep his biggest achievement in City I think is that not only he managed to apply his system of playing in Premier League but to change whole English football to follow City's(Pep's) way of playing and follow our example. This is astonishing in my eyes.
