To be fair Dave, our midfield is so weak and slow at the moment, banging it up to the big man is probably just what Erling would prefer!

Let's face it, that's how he scored most of his goals for Dortmund.

This won't get sorted until we get at least three new players in to replace the dead legs in midfield, and wide men who actually have an end product.
I agree about the midfield and wingers and that we need a rebuild mate but we don’t need to change our style of play. What Haaland needs is through balls and they come from skillful creative players in a team controlling the game.

Just clicked on this thread for the first time. You really would think I’d have learned after 20 years on this forum but no.

After all these years, all these records and trophies, after watching football being redefined before our very eyes…we still have a number of fucking bellends who seem to think the answer is to bang it route one to the centre forward.

Fuck off to Stoke you fools.
Stoke? On a cold Tuesday night? Don’t think I could hack it…….

Not read thread but by looks we missed golden opportunity when pep lost first game and his invisibility vanished we should've acted and sacked him and installed horseface

Not happened for the last 7 games. I don't see how it's going to magically change over night.
I didn't say it would happen overnight. But eventually it will improve because injured key players will return to form and we will sign more players. Not because we start lumping it up to Crouchy.

Definitely. Problem is, they have games where they're reluctant to do this. You see Haaland make those runs constantly and outside of KDB, nobody is consistently willing to be that direct. He's a one on one nightmare for anyone. Utilise that.

In the mean time it wouldn't kill us to try something different. We are isolating the best striker in the world whilst our defence and midfield are doing their best keystone cops impressions.

Man management is a key part of a manager’s armoury. It’s one thing carrying people along the crest of a wave and eliminating anyone who falls short for whatever reason. Watch Amazon Prime and that’s what we saw.

However, has Pep ever faced a managerial situation where things are falling apart and external reinforcements aren’t available? No disrespect but probably not. He’s in unfamiliar territory. If he rises to it, he’ll cement his place as truly one of the best ever managers. If not, and he walks, history will qualify his achievements. Those who accuse him of being a fairweather manager will be like flies on a freshly laid turd.

He’s signed the extension and declared his fighting position. The stakes are big. His legacy is on the line for maybe the first time ever.

I’ve always believed he’d leave us in a strong position and still do.

I think I just serendipitously realized something..

I've made this post before in the title race thread..

If we are honest:
We have no defense (without Ruben & Ake)
We have no midfield (without Rodri)
We have no press (without Bobb, Bernardo & Foden all being 100%)
We have no attack (without KDB & Haaland)
& We have Walker

What I failed to take into account was I think we miss Julian Alvarez more than we realized, I mean on the surface we're missing his goals, but even when he wasn't on the scoresheet he would run around and press like a madman. And currently we have no one able to do that! A player is not just G/A stats!

He was our version of the dippers Sadio Mane.. Yes I know Salah would always grab the headlines but genuinely you knew Mane was more important.. one second pressing in defense and getting the ball back and the next second spearheading the attack!

Love Pep but I wish he had hung onto Julian like he managed to hang onto Bernardo by vetoing every transfer request!

Not a coincide that our best 2 seasons recently had him in it. I wonder what his release clause is.. we might have to trigger it!

No! He won't Cement his place as on or the best Ever.

He is already The best Ever!

That said, he needs to figure this out. We need better press breaking patterns, better post press counter plays and better Front press structures ourselves.

All of which we improve our overall team play, and chance creation. And perhaps give our immensely talented and young Frontline more time and space to showcase their talents rather than spending 75% of their time in between tight pockets watching weaker defensive players pass the ball around and too scared to open up a defense.

Pep can and should fix this. But he is ALREADY the Greatest!

Best ever City manager? Definitely. Already cemented.

But that wasn’t quite my point.
