Going full Mourinho style.

Under pressure. Not a happy man right now.

Hes obviously seeing something different than everyone else otherwise he wouldn't keep making the same mistakes over and over. Even now there's 11 players fit that should be a match for any team, But he persists with this ludicrous high line, slow as fuck midfield and possession just for the sake of it. It's goals we need and quick too.
He’s not going to change the way we play.

Best case scenario is we scrape a few results over the next month and then buy 2/3 players in January who make an immediate impact within our system.

If we can’t get those players then I would think there’s reasonable chance of him walking before the end of the season, as we’ll continue to struggle.

It’s a huge job ahead. Even before our recent collapse our creativity and style of play had deteriorated markedly; we were grinding results out rather than winning with any flair or conviction.

Bernardo, Foden, Savinho, Grealish, Gunfogan, Lewis, KDB, Nunes and Doku

Combined appearances - 91
Combined goals - 2

The result of a poor set-up? Poor coaching? Poor in and outs in the market? Whichever way you look at it, it's fucking shocking. That's our forward players outside Erling.

Gone to shit in every aspect. Goals dried up, floodgates vs us have opened, control of games(not just passing along backline but pinning a team in and peppering their goal) isn't happening. We look, like a bottom half team at present and that's being kind.
Agreed. One thing I have noticed is when one City player makes a little half break and gets away, we stop and only seem to want to attack their defence once its in its structure.
I don't know whether this is coached to avoid counters but it really stops us from getting into a lot of dangerous positions imo.

I honestly reckon pep just wanted today over with
Now he has to make some changes
Ortega - has to play
Ederson - time to be sub
Walker - leave now
Dias - warrior
Stones - leave
Ake- warrior
Akanje- sub
Gvardiol - rested will come back stronger
Lewis - sub
Gundo - out of team please
Kdb - play or leave time
Foden - pull socks up
Bernado- same
Grealish - last chance saloon
Nunes - sub
Savio - play him
Doku - play him
Haaland - give him the ball
Can’t disagree with any of that but we need fresh blood and especially in midfield..

That starting line up defo worked against us.

Considering who hr subbed on... I hope they can play the next game.

What players are usually available in the January window that will make an immediate impact??

Proven premier league players will command a fortune - something we all know the club is reluctant to shell out for.

We will end up with a couple of South American players and maybe another stop gap like a Kovacic for example.

Especially as we're not stopping any counters to begin with.

Just read a quote from him that grealish in midfield is going to be tried
Yeah well he better try something different, I thought getting thrashed by Spurs would mean we never get to see that Gundo-Silva-Lewis midfield trio again but he went with it one more time at Anfield which I think is ludicrous.

I’d be happy to fuck off the whole squad if thats what it takes

I think only Kevin could have the argument that’s he already had the talent to be world class , the rest owe their careers to his genius

Luckily we still have some players who will be loyal to build the next team around , could be another season before we’re back challenging though

It’s going to be painful watching mere mortals win the league this season but five in a row would have been absurd

Hopefully we can push for a cup win with a few signings in January

He’s coached all of the flair out of Foden, Bernardo and Grealish etc, so nobody can make something out of nothing when the machine malfunctions.

The available players should be able to match any other 11 in the league - even with the injuries. Compromise and formulate a plan that involves keeping the £200m worth of available defenders tight and getting the ball forward quickly to the best #9 in world football via the reigning player of the year.

Pep main philosophy is be a team be selfless that's how he has got us so consistent winning league titles and why no one else has ever got 100 points the domestic quad the treble four leagues in a row!

Joined today, hopefully gone tomorrow…

So the issues we have now and this current run is all the squads fault? And all the success we have had is all down to pep? Can't have it both ways.

I'm sorry but pep is far from blameless in this as well, yes we won four in a row, yes he's our best ever manager and yes he's earned the right to do what he likes.

0 wins in 7, 19 goals conceded, 1 point won... that's relegation form I'm afraid, and I don't think any manager should be immune from being questioned over this type of form. We're still seeing the same issues we saw at the start of this run game after game which haven't been addressed! This is going to just go on and on and on until he decides to change something.

Its pretty clear opposition have found effective ways to play and set up against us and we no longer have the players built for the current system. It's up to pep to react and adjust to get the most out of the players he has available.

The lineup today suggested we would take a more pragmatic approach to the game, I'm thinking it's not a bad idea, it is at least something different. So he takes our ball playing keeper and best defender on the ball out of the lineup and seemingly replaces them with a more sturdy defence and we naturally assume we'll perhaps play a bit more directly than usual, try turn the dippers and get in behind them from time to time, be a bit quicker in going back to front because we sure as shit don't have the players on the pitch to dominate the ball and play through them.

Game kicks off and we've got Dias standing on the ball, inviting pressure until he forces the high press from them and then within 3 passes we've lost the ball because we simply cannot beat a press anymore as everybody is too slow. we get away with it numerous times without once even getting out over the halfway proving it to be totally useles tactic thay brings danger and no reward and yet we just persist with it.

What did pep have in his mind? I'd love to know how he thought we were going to score today. The players aren't to blame for that, they tried to make a deeply flawed gameplan work as best they could against all the odds.
