Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

Well the great reputation is evaporating and being tarnished so he's surely got to think of this in the coming days. It's hard to regain once it's lost. I love the man but soon he could be in Alan Ball territory with regard to amount of losses totting up. Turning it around from here would be something incredible. The next 3-4 weeks are going to define whether he signs one or two players or gets a fully fit defensive back line.
How can ANYONE - even a rag - compare Pep with Alan Ball. It’s too funny to be real.

Despite the traumatic result last night - loved the way Pep comforted Nunes - felt his pain.
Great manager & man
That was on the pitch, but in the dressing room....

listening to pep's presser he seems more willing to take the fall for the players than to make radical changes and be ruthless. it could be mostly for show but not even counting with mcatee and academy players and instead playing the old guard will be his fall, cause the oldies arent able/dont care anymore

He's hardly going to come out and say all the players are wank and letting me down is he?

Pep will know who's finished here, he couldn't see the fall off from some of the players from last season to now, unfortunately injuries means he has to play some of the players he wants to get rid of. He did this in the 2016/17 season as well.

The form in recent weeks means he doesn't want to throw youngsters to the wolves. He gave JSP a chance against Sporting and we got destroyed. Although I do think we're getting to the point of 'well we might as well try'.

The one thing Pep will need to move the needle on slightly is squad size, we need 22-25 first team players with the number of games.

This run of form is on the recruitment and players though, Pep's blame despite having some role in that is a lot lower than the players, recruitment and injuries though.

No genuinely ambitious elite player will want to join City with the 115 charges still hanging over us.

Only ageing mercenaries out for a big payday, and average wannabes like Doku, Nunes, Phillips etc.

Pep has overlooked / underused the academy lads to the detriment of the club in the longer term.
1000% true...

I love Pep. It's hard not to. He is the greatest club football Manager of my lifetime. Of that I have no doubts.

But at this point, a choice has to be made. Either bench the aging players who clearly don't have the physical ability to do what his system requires or change the system. That 2nd goal does not happen on a team with a low block. That is a tactical decision.

We are not going to be very good this season. But w don't need to be bad either. We can be average.

Right now, we are being bad and that's unacceptable. Being bad is a choice. Being average might not be, but being bad is! And we are currently making that choice to be bad.

And in my humble and uninformed opinion....

That is on Pep!!!

Do the same, play the old players and lose or play some fresh legs in midfield and see what happens? He will do the same for sure against villa cos theyve had a week off, but the same players are still knackered and slow and the same result will ensue.

How long did Wenger cause heartbreak for Arsenal fans? Pep can go on for 3 more years without winning the PL and I wouldn't be mad at him as long as during that dry spell, we build a new generation of young hungry players from within the club
And then sell them on

Absolutely spot on

We won i think the first three games ? Memory is bad so hope that is right , we did it without rodders

The only thing that changed is kova got injured and then more and more injured and some left playing wifh injuries

Gundy has had to be flogged , keeper keeps changing which imo is something you should never do , without a good defence it has been much more difficult to build up from the back, the defensive injuries are killing us

Bernie is running on fumes after years of running about like mad, kev is trying to come back to us , phil has been ill for ages

Taking all that into account pep can fix this when the lads can all play again but he must change the tactics to get us through this bad patch , he has been forcing his idea of beautiful football but it is not working . It will come again but till then adjust
