Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

Obviously, we all feel he has left a lot to be desired these past few months, but the boys just put up 3.43 expected goals in one of the toughest away games of the season when taking stakes into the equation, with a squad that just a few days ago had most away on international duty.

The man is still the best in the world for the job, and I hope he learns all he needs from this underwhelming season and comes back with a vengeance next August.

Sorry, we should have Chak19 as our manager and we would be much better.

Inverted fullbacks is the way that we dominated Europe by the way. But what can anyone expect from someone who only comes here to criticize the greatest manager of all time?
Who cares? Time to start adapting because playing without fullbacks clearly doesn’t work any more

Yes I'd be very happy to be paid millions to manage the greatest club in the world smart-arse.

Inverted fullbacks don't bloody work anymore, not with the players we have, how many times do I have to repeat that so you bloody get it ? what worked in the past doesn't work now with the players we have, is that too hard for you lot to understand ?

Wait and see, next season will be very different it may involve 2 full backs, probably not though. If you think playing without fullbacks doesn't work or anything else doesn't work anymore based off this season ,then you're a fool.

And why don't you say anything about how you only come here to criticize the best manager of all time? I have never ever seen you praise Pep, and I mean this even when we won the treble you would only come here after draws and defeats. You are not the only one, of course, but I find that interesting.

Oh our pal city warrior has never ever seen me praise Pep, that must mean that I've never ever praised Pep, yes I consider Pep the greatest manager of all time too but I've never praised him, very interesting indeed.

Disagree with the sentiment om here.

Even before the half time changes he got it right and ill admit I was confused by the lineup.

But I figured before the game started, he would use wide fullbacks which has actually been our best system this season, so I understood why Bernie, Kova and Gundo deep in the middle were used and it worked!

People seem to forget that even in the 1st half we dominated and should have been 3-0 up, Haaland was our worst player before the goal in the 2nd half (probably still tied with Nunes as a whole).

I really really really really wish Pep doesnt see the 433 wide fullbacks as a one off system.

The most exciting City games from this season are when we utilize it.

He needs to be backed in the summer with world class LB and RB. The CB spot is fine with Gvardiol there now, and Khusanov, and Reis/Bah as future stars to mold.

The buy him a 6 and an 8, Wharton and Camara is my choice, because the old timers need a succession plan, and we are cooking again!

Sticky this

I think not having a single fullback on the team at the professional level is utterly ridiculous from all aspects.

Funny how Pep is going back to what he prefers:

Midfielder at LB
Midfielder at RB
Midfielder at RW
Midfielder at LW
Midfielder at DM
Midfielder at AM
Midfielder at CM
Striker, Goalkeeper, 2 CB's!

The more things change, the more they stay the same!

Great scenes at the end. Never thought I’d see Pep that happy winning a game like this
Seeing him respond like that gives me a lot of hope that he comes back with a vengeance next season, and gets his desire back.
Five in a row would have been amazing, but winning the title back next season, and getting the club back to where it should be would be an amazing swan song for the best manager this club will ever see.

Interesting quotes from this.

The biggest surprise is Pep admitting he made a mistake not playing the academy players more this season.

His reason, as I always knew it was, was that he feared playing them while we were in playing poor would do them more harm them good.

But it seems like he now knows that was flawed, they play with no fear.

Best comment all season and now that makes me feel that he can learn from it and start to trust more .
