Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

I think we've been utter shite all season, even in the first dozen games or so when we were winning. At that point I was hoping we could hang on in until we started to perform as we still had players missing from summer. And then we fell apart. Whilst results have been better recently, we're nowhere near the level we have been previously.

And yet we're 3 points behind Arsenal. They may look good, but they're not very good at actually winning matches and have had a drop in levels not far off ours even though you'd expect them to have more hunger.
I still find it completely insane that we’re only 3 pts away from them and if Pep wasn’t so bizarre with his lineups and these players could be a relegated side we could’ve been ahead of them. In our worst ever season. With the most injuries we’ve ever had.

How bad are we really ? How far off are we really from Pool and Arsenal ?

Things look bad when we compare us to our prime. But I think people should understand that’s we’re still a good team. We’re just so used to being perfect and always winning.

The upcoming CWC is not your typical glorified pre season tournament anymore fyi.

We might see Pep and club management actually treats the tournament as legitimate competition.

we treated previous CWC seriously as well. it was only two games but we were adamant even wearing the winner badge for quite some time did we...
now difference is that its more games but serious cash prizes.

deffo has some pre season feeling as we would likely to a US tour anyway if we dont have this tourney maybe a month later tho for lot lesser prizes...

I get the feeling Pep isn’t fucking about next season.

Even by his standards he and his team have had a very poor season.

He knows where it went wrong, including himself.

The demand Pep wants a smaller squad is an insight into that thinking.

I want him to revamp his backroom staff first. get some new faces, new energy in. Real had a big staff under Ancelotti maybe poach someone from there.

bring back the kit man guy too. him leaving caused our downfall. :)

send Lillo to New York City FC. bring in his big friend Warnock as ass.manager.

Pep already had a small squad to begin with. He was very reluctant in adding to that depth. The January new faces broke a habit of lifetime and although long term they will come good they didn't seem to have the immediate desired effect that a lot were hoping for.

They were panic buys.

I guess that’s why it wins him premier leagues and champions leagues - oh wait Spurs won more than them.
Our style of play was / is perfect in certain scenarios ...i also think our season mngt approach is pretty amazing ..our last ten games or so are nearly almost faultless..again this season as well. That really has helped and is a key difference as others fade.. i do think with a " deeper" league we will need to adapt new tactics..such as giving up.the ball to.lull teams in.

I know its tongue in cheek but someone should call out the europa league for what it is.. teams finishing upper to mid table in prem qualify! ..not like the old uefa cup that sides finishing 2 to 4 played in. Often better quality tgen european cup. Todays euro and conf league make it a shoe in really for english clubs due to the money and resources compared to other upper mid table teams.

I wouldn't call them that as such. It was the best we could have done at that time. Perhaps if we waited until the summer but again I don't think the intention was to do too much in one go.

Once we qualify for the champions league today (I hope!!) I think we’ll see a new pep
At the moment he is squeezing what’s left out of them
I think he will move onto next season straight away and that’s when we’ll see the next phase of city
Or he'll walk. The end of Peps era is closer than people think.

I think we may have had them lined up, for this summer. 100% agree we had to something.

He seems very agitated lately and some of his decision making is baffling.
It’s much harder managing when the results are going against you, and it’s made even harder when your trusted lieutenants are sidelined with injuries. Players are back and playing when evidently not fully fit.
People are clamouring for an overhaul of the playing squad, but I think there also needs to be a refresh of the coaching team, including someone to lift the weight off Guardiola’s shoulders.
