Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

i wrote a coupe of weeks ago about my hunch, pep imo was going to leave last season, however he would of been leaving us we the squad short, now he can see the squad is getting to where it should be(not quite there imo) he can hand it over, the exact opposite to slur alex, lessons have been learnt what can happen to a club if the succession planning isnt in place, imo it shows he cares and loves the club, but again imo he is ready to move on.

Maresca by all accounts is a very good coach, chelsea players were pissed off about him leaving, hell have more input into the squad something that he didnt have at chelsea.

Some posters who I’ve read about stuff who clearly have their ear to the ground, so looks like has some traction to it.

I hope nothing official gets released until the season is completely over.

We knew the day of Pep leaving us was going to be soon and now it appears that day has arrived. Can't say I'm shocked. I do consider myself blessed to have been around when the maestro weaved his magic from the touchline and on the training pitch. It's brought us unprecedented success unlikely to ever be matched again.

What I am not so thrilled about is Maresca taking over. Cannot see why the club think this succession is the way to go. It's a huge call and one we can ill afford to get wrong.

"The deal is a one-year extension (until 2026) with an option to extend for a second year (until 2027), often referred to as a "1+1" deal."

Reported by Jamie Jackson, Sam Lee , Jack Gaughan and the Athletic. That was before the announcement from City on the website

It’s all a bit daft really. You pass on something someone has told you because you think it’s relevant to the thread. Before you know it’s been screen shotted and all over Twitter. People acting like I’ve said it will 100% definitely happen, rather than just passing on what I’d heard. Then Liam Gallagher replies to it and all hell breaks loose! Seeing people on there saying I personally started the rumours that Matheus Nunes has cancer, which is fucking ridiculous (particularly given it’s a rumour that actually started on Twitter). At least it’s served as a reminder why I’ve largely binned that platform off!

Twitter is a wretched hive of scum & villainy.

Plus people have no concept of nuance or understanding, as can be seen in the response to any negative post by aggregators

Losing Pep and Bernie in the same summer is a hideous situation to be in, I’m already managing expectations for next season. WC year too

Wage bill going to have a massive trim this year tho I guess haha!

Interesting. So he wouldn’t be breaking his contract (which he has never done) like many have said.

No idea personally. Just that it's defo Maresca. Viana got him lined up. Seems very likely now doesn't it sadly
too many sources pointing to the same thing unfortunately. It had to happen at some point I just hope we can deliver another treble for him. That would be a nice leaving present.
Personally I think Maresca will be fine. He has the strength of the club wrapped round him, was good enough at Chelsea despite all of their off field nonsense. Had the guts to stand up to the ownership, was liked by the players. He isn't Pep clearly but then who else is?

I hope Vinnie comes home at some point but Bayern could not play the way they do against every team in the PL. PSG suited them - another team as technically gifted and dedicated to attacking football. He would have to adapt his game somewhat just as Pep has done continuously and he failed to do that at Burnley when they got relegated.

and it won't be long before the media start questions about Pep's future.
Are you taking the piss? They’ve been doing that all season.

Look, I’ve known ric for coming up to 20 years. He doesn’t do hyperbole and 99% of the forum are grateful when he posts snippets of what he hears.

If you don’t like it, find another forum.

It's not some transfer news the forum was waiting to hear, it's the opposite. Also, the post has already gone public outside this forum and it won't be long before the media start questions about Pep's future. At the end of a close title race, the less distractions the better.
Grow up.

It's algorithm based. Hate and negativity gets more clicks.
I binned it off ages ago.

Sadly, have been told by someone who’d know that the rumours about Pep leaving at the end of the season are indeed correct. Praying it’s not true, but he’d have no reason to lie :(

Not a huge surprise, given the amount of speculation, but still absolutely gutted. What a ride it’s been, the end of an incredible era. Winning the domestic treble would be a fitting end though for the greatest manager of all time.

As has been speculated, the new North Stand will be named in his honour and Enzo Maresca is his replacement.
Thanks for sharing Ric, though like you, I'm gutted if it happens.
