Didn't some people on here say when we got Pellers in that it was part of a plan that would see Pep here in 3 years? Sounded a bit far fetched to me at the time!

I think Pellegrini is here to put in the philosophy Txiki wants City to play laying down a foundation for Guardiola.

I can see Vieira becoming Guardiola's assitant as well ready to take over for when Pep's time is up.

I could be wrong but that is what it looks like to me.

This is what I reckon also, & quite frankly if this was our near future I'd be delighted as we'd win all sorts.

I don't think there's any grand plan with respect to Guardiola. It's all pretty simple really. We wanted him to replace Mancini - actually we were trying to sign him half way through Mancini's last season. We tried to get him, but we failed as he chose Bayern. End of story.

We'll see in a years time.

It will be in 2 years time, both he and Pellegrini have another 2 years on their contracts.

How will we see? If we sign him in a years time, it just means we sign him in years time. It doesn't prove there is some grand plan.

Moyes had 6.

I was referring to what SalfordPaul wrote a year ago in the origin post of this thread.

-- Wed Apr 23, 2014 7:09 pm --

Correct. Football clubs don't succession plan with finite timescales. It takes all the pieces of the jigsaw to fit together at the right time for an appointment to happen. Guardiola is the most respected manager in football, so if a time comes when he wants to move on, he will have his pick of jobs. Whether ours is one depends on whether there is a vacancy. Whether there's a vacancy depends on the success of the incumbent at that time.

The chances of all that coming together in exactly a year are minuscule.

It's not long since Jose Mourinho was telling people in private that he saw the City job as his destiny. Now that seems extremely unlikely. Football is unpredictable and things change very quickly.

Why exactly would a billionaire owner who has showed every intent of making us a world force employ MP as some form of part time stopgap manager, until Bayern are ready to release him?

Have you forgotten about Mancini?

Another baseless throwaway cliche from Dimwit D

Must be difficult for him to say given the adoration he showered on Mourinho until he betrayed him by going back to Chelsea.

You accusing me of "adoration" of a football manager is pretty funny.

You do realise there is an irony here? A rather big one?

Why not be like your Wildean pal above and call me Stinkpants or Bumhead or something? Really hammer the point home, eh?

You cellar boys are so badass. Proper fucking geezers.

Pep's proved nothing at Bayern. He's done no better than Lennon's done at Celtic. I'd win the Bundesliga with Bayern.
He did really struggle to beat the mighty Moyes' and his merry band if Rags!
