Pep - no signings coming in in January

Genuine question, as for my sins I don’t really follow our teams below first team, but do we have any specialist DM players who can put a foot in and also pass the ball at the club? Who plays at DM for us?

I dont think we have anyone "ready" to step in that position mate...long term potential is there (Gomes?) but I dont think anyone is Prem/CL ready at the moment....

Surely if there was potential to be banned we would pull the trigger anyway then? I’m actually staggered that we didn’t go ahead with another DM last summer? To be fair Mendy was fit again and delph and been great last season as well but the midfield area always was the priority yet we made a vanity signing in mahrez? Especially when we had sterling, sane, Bernardo, Jesus, Diaz or De Bruyne that could play wide? Absolutely bonkers
It wasn't instead though was it, we wanted Sanchez or Mahrez last January, in the summer we wanted Mahrez and Jorginho, when Jorginho fell through we already had Mahrez.

That’s true actually mate thinking back. Just boggles the mind we went with what we had for DM

If at all possible, i would:

Sell Diaz Mangala and Zinchenko in January, recoup around 25-30 million.
Bring in weigl (25 million) and firpo (40). Net spend of 35 to 40 million in January may be manageable.

Weigl fallen out of favour, a gamble worth taking IMO. Completely different player to Gundogan before the inevitable comparisons. Firpo in good form and can cover multiple positions.

Weigl is a lightweight Gundogan out of form. No where near our level

Weigl would be far too much of a risk right now. In my opinion he wouldn't cut it and I'd rather go with someone more similar to fern.
