Pep: 'The players deserve a full stadium, we need our fans!'

On a night when Spuds attract 85k we were always gonna be lambasted. As fans though we are truly blessed with what we are seeing. I've been to most CL games since 2011 and haven't enjoyed many of them for all sorts of reasons. But this feels different. We have confidence and look like we belong and the quality on the pitch is as good as anything we've seen in recent years.

Cmon blues, tonight we were fab. No excuses. The place should be packed against Barca and Celtic.

What was your excuse for missing games?

i dont agree, I'm in that in-between bit ( 22 ). the main problem is price and I'm finding that out now. once your turn 22 it goes to adult prices, and most people that age aren't making enough to justify going each week. loads of city fans in the 21-26 category can't afford to go and usually start again when they are a bit older or have a better paid job. just my opinion though

It's a fair point but it doesn't seem to affect other clubs as much as us if that is the main reason and I stil think there's record breaking moaning at City that puts positive fans off from going too.

This,i wonder if he knows that

Even if he doesn't I'm pretty sure any journo worth his salt could quite easily investigate and find out why the attendance was down rather than happily running with the comments to encourage the emptyhad comments and rag clickers

Have you been to Barcelona? They have thousands and thousands of tourists going to the games, people who have no interest in football in any real sense but are visiting the City and buy tickets from kiosks on the street. They also have a team of superstars including the best player on the planet who many go to watch just so they can say they saw him in the flesh. They're the most famous club (arguably) on the planet.
Any comparisons are a load of bollocks at this moment in time.

Yeah I have. I've been one of those tourists several times.

I'm not comparing us to Barcelona, but the comparison is really fucking stupid. 20k empty seats in a 98,000 capacity is the equivalent of 45,000 for us - and last I heard we were expecting ~40,000 last night.

It's just a stupid comparison but someone always tries to bring it up in These threads.

I am 62 the other guys further down the row from me are similar age and all were there tonight, unlike many on here.
There was no "moaning" just full of support and comments on the game.

Easy target the older support but way out of line if you ask me.
Ive been all over with the club for many many years so think this targeting of "older" supporters is out of order.

At what age do you think we should stop attending the games?

Maybe we should stop now so we can leave it to the non existent hordes of younger fans who wanted to attend tonight,......and they were where?????.

These younger supporters don't exist, if we stopped anyone over 50 attending we'd be getting 20000 every week.

thats the age my lad dropped out because he went onto adult and simply could not afford the cost so there is a problem there losing support at those ages

My point is it's easier for Barcelona to get 77,000 than it us to get 45,000. Whatever the rights and wrongs.

i think it does affect other clubs though, most crowds are middle aged men, just watch motd, look at fan bases like west ham, chelsea, liverpool...... the teams that have younger fans ( in that age group) have the cheaper deals, everton is a great example of that. there is a lot of moaning, but we positive fans have to change that ! ;)

Fans in my block are moved out of our seats on CL nights and it pisses people off as you look back and the seats are either empty or have away fans in them (bottom tier of the East Stand, what would have been The Kippax years back, these aren't what you'd consider tourist places, they're prime hole fans places!).

It pisses people off so much there are dozens and dozens, possibly hundreds, of people from my block who don't attend CL games at all.

Tonight I just moved back to my usual seat because it was empty but there were huge gaps of 20+ seats in a row that were just empty where I usually sit that will be full on Saturday.

Even at away games there doesn't seem to be a lot of 'lads' following us unlike other clubs, the age and demographics of our away support appears to be exactly the same albeit in much smaller numbers as our home support.
