Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Because the fanbase hadn't turned into rags with a 'winning mentality' and sense of entitlement to match.
As a coach you can't get away with blunders of this scale. His team selection cost us that game. Everyone knows that. And how. It wasnt one player. It was a horrific error, and he then lacked the humility to correct it. I hope he has sincerely apologised to his players tonight. Even then, I doubt it will or should be accepted. This is top level sport. You simply can not make decisions of such arrogance and incompetence without consequences.

They are entirely comparable. Ferguson outspent everybody time and time again and despite domestic dominance had extremely limited success in Europe. They got knocked out by some real bad sides and on more than one occassion didn't even get out of the group. Fortunately for them their upper management realised how great it was to be as dominant on English shores as they were and didn't let a good thing go. They let him rebuild every time things went a bit downhill.

You ask about Pochettino at Madrid, but remember Mourinho was never sacked there despite never winning the CL until he lost the dressing room. They even extended his contract in the months prior to his sacking. When you have something especially good you don't get rid the first chance you get.

Ferguson ran the club from top to bottom. He was involved in EVERY decision in buildings, trips, commercial, staff, literally everything. It’s why they have been a mess since he has left on and off the pitch. They could not get rid of him as he was the club!

United didn’t have a twitter account until he left in 2013 as Fergie would not allow it. Can you imagine Pep having that kind of influence?

That is why the two are not comparable as Pep is just one member of staff in a huge network of executives which run the club which an objective to win the Champions League which he has now failed to do 4 times.

There is never going to be a manager at an elite club for 10 years let alone 26, those days are gone.

There is a lot of strange views on here tonight.

My favourite being blaming players for individual errors..

Sterling can’t shoot.
Eddy can’t save..
Laporte can’t defend...
Walker needs a brain transplant...

yes there were errors but that will also be the case in football as long as it exists... but...

Bar the opening goal pretty much all that good and bad stuff happened inside the last 30 minutes. And there lies the problem.. the problem being we did nothing of note for an hour as were not set up to do so.

king pep has fucked up the champions league again with city through his arrogance and thinking he’s untouchable, so our owners , who crave to win the competition should sack him tomorrow cos with king pep in charge have absolutely no chance of winning it, through his own arrogant ways so hopefully we’re contacting replacements already to take us to that level our owners deserve after such investment..

Are you familiar with the word hyperbole?

Var does its job and Sterling puts that EASY chance away. You'd be wanking yourself silly.

That team was good enough to win. The players let themselves down, not Pep
We didn't win, and put ourselves under huge pressure. If? deal with reality. We played a horrific midfield. Foden and Bernardo should have started for me with KDB. We had a great team on paper and played a much weakened and compromised side.

Sure there were things in the game the players could have done better but are you surprised that a slow and pedestrian City midfield struggled to create chances, and were outpaced for the counter-attacks?

On another note I'm worried that some of our fans have been successfully duped by the media and non-City supporting public into believing the CL is the be all and end all and nothing else really matters.

Don't get me wrong it's a major competition and you definitely aim to win it, but..

Khaldoon has repeatedly said it in public!!! Nothing to do with the media or other city fans.
