Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

-------------------Ederson
Walker-------Garcia-----Laporte----Mendy
------------------Rodri
---------KDB-------------Foden
-------Mahrez----Jesus----Sterling
How the fuck Foden didn’t get on the pitch tonight? Wtf!
pep made 3 mistakes tonight
1 the starting line up
2 subs too late. He is too stubborn/ absorbed
3 2 subs when he had the choice from 5!

the guy has done great things for us but tonight he got things horribly Wrong . If he has Has the balls to admit it and the drive to correct mistakes I am happy and behind him fully. If not we need to move quickly!

Shouldn't have been left relying on marginal decisions and at the mercy of refereeing error. You know we messed up in our own team selection.
Marvin I have never agreed more with all your points. Tonight was a shit show full stop. Sterling’s miss was bad but we still would of lost. Tonight was as though pep said to himself what would Mourinho pick for tonight!?

They‘d had a couple of long rangers straight at Eddy to be fair before they scored.
OK yes, first decent effort then, as usual the player could have just as easily put it wide or over the bar, but no, it's us so it hit was perfectly.

The "bad defending" was just inside their half, and on the half way line, where our midfield should be doing better, and that set up the chance.

This talk of playing 3 DM's annoys me, as one of them was clearly playing as a CB, as he has done most of the season, the other 2 were playing as normal CM players as part of a wing back system, though I'm not sure where Kyle played, as he was meant to be pushing their wing back on his side back, but never did. Cancelo on the other (wrong for him) side did manage it most of the game.

3 midfielders towing caravans! I get cancelo starting but with one player starting out of normal position, why start another in our best player in kdb out of position on right fw? Where he can’t influence play!

You can describe it how you like but at the core of city's side we had three pedestrian players who struggle to defend against fast breaking sides and who are limited in their ability to break down packed defences.

It was a completely unnecessary tactic and City would have been much better served by playing Foden, and Bernardo in front of Rodri

I think many City fans will conclude that come another similar game, Pep will crumble again.

Pep has a high line. Always has. Always will.

We didn’t play 3 DMs. We played Fernandinho at RCB; Rodri at DM and Gundogan as a double pivot further up.

You’ve nailed the reason why it didn’t work, though.

Walker is a supremely fast, limited full back. He’s saved us on countless occasions as he mops up our RCB mistakes.

Tonight, he was asked to play further forward. He hadn’t a clue what to do.

That’s why I suggested in my reply to Marvin that Walker should have played RCB, Cancelo as RWB and Mendy as LWB. It would have given Mendy a boost too.

The Gundogan/Silvas dilemma is an impossible conundrum. With hindsight, of course it was the wrong decision, but we could have been 3 down at half time if we’d played a Silva.

Having seen how it played out, hindsight suggests Jesus wasn’t used well. He wasn’t used as a “target man” and more of a channel runner. Why not use Foden or Mahrez, who have better close control and pace?

Hindsight.

He played Dinho gundogan and Rodri and shunted KDB to the right, best team he wins a league, in Europe abject failure
