Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Looking at that i am 100 percent confident of top 4. I think liverpool, arsenal and united hve rode their luck a lot, and as bad as we have been, we are getting sod all in the way of luck. We have hit rock bottom, but i think our form will return. Bravos arms will start working as well as his feet, vincent will come back and jesus will take the weight off sergio. Kdb hasnt scored since september, so hes due a few. And we have delph back :-)

Liverpool & Chelsea will be fine and will be top 2 imo. United, Arsenal & Spurs have Europe to contend with and have dealt with it worse than us so far this season, which gives me confidence.

Really depends what attitude Pep takes from here. I hope he's sick of being embarrassed and sacks off those who have let him down in 3 or a 4. He has to make big choices, ones Pellegrini never made. Have to see something change, Jesus will help, but he needs to stop the short-term selection, playing past-it full backs in midfield instead of playing a genuine central midfielder, no matter how young, actually building the team around who will be in it next season, and not just trying to fit every star in.

If he does that, who knows what will happen, particularly if the club can get behind him at the right moment and put the PL under severe pressure to re-balance the decision-making. Will be too much to catch Chelsea, but top 4 is still there if Pep makes some cold, hard decisions based on the long-term now.

we're 2 points better off than this stage last year, and we would be 3rd (like last year) in last season's table but have a 6 point lead over 4th, and be only 1 point off the top.

So Pep is unlucky in the sense that the top 6 is so competitive this year, which is why United have been given such a helping hand in the past 3 months because the authorities knew they'd be completely out of it without that help. Easily the most competitive premier league in a long while. At the current points scoring rate the top 6 would be.

1) Chelsea 94.
2) Tottenham 81.
3) Liverpool 81.
4) Arsenal 79.
5) Man City 76.
6) Man Utd 72.

Would be pretty unheard of, going to be one hell of an end to the season.

You are along the right lines and it is actually the most dominant top 6 at this stage of the season in the history of the premier league.

Before the Everton game City were sitting in 4th with 42 points after 20 games. 42 points would have been good enough after 20 games for at least 2nd spot in 10 of the last 20 seasons and actually 1st spot in 6 of the last 20 seasons.

Even with the loss at Everton no team in the history of the PL has been outside the top 4 with 42 points after 21 games.

After beating Spuds over the weekend we will be back in the title race.
