Looking at Pep's history he needs a new challenge every few years , if he gets the success required i.e. Premier League titles and Champs League with us over the next couple of years , he will leave for another challenge or maybe another sabbatical , wouldnt be surprised if he ended up managing Spain in the future.
Not necessarily true. The atmosphere at Barca was toxic at the time & it emerges the plan was for Pep to come here in 2012, but us winning the title in such dramatic fashion scuppered that.
He then took a year out & accepted the offer to manage Bayern. That appointment & Pellegrini's appointment now turn out to be stop gaps. Pep was the plan all along & he's now at a club where he has the infrastructure, the financial backing & the resources to compete with the very best, unhindered by club politics as he was at Barca.
This team is already Pep's & I've always sensed he wants to stay here & build it to its fullest potential. He was lauded as possibly the world's best current manager, but the PL was always going to test him. So where better for him to build a dynasty & prove himself than at Manchester City?
He's no longer in a 1 or 2 team league, he's now in the PL where there's a top 6 with only 4 CL spots available per season, unless another team does a ManUre by finishing 6th & winning the EL.
He also has Moureen, Wenger, Conte, Pochettino & teeth as his managerial adversaries to contend with, so if City can't quench Pep's insatiable appetite, then no-one can.
Everything he could possibly want is right here. Nothing is certain in life & that is especially true in the PL, but Pep has a club which already reflects his image & he's now moulding his team to match our club's ambitions & doctrine.
He won't be with us forever, but I truly believe he'll be here a lot longer than many of us realise at this present moment & I for one couldn't be happier.
I said from the beginning of last season, we won't see all Pep's work come to fruition until season 2019-2020, & nothing I've seen yet makes me believe differently. We're playing a long game here & whilst it'll be nice to win something this season, I won't be disappointed in the least if we don't, as I've never thought we can truly judge Pep until he's properly had the chance to reverse the regression of the Pellegrini years.
That's why I say & maintain; we ain't seen nothing yet folks...
