Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Im not a big fan of Rodri, but in terms of the opta graphs and charts, he’s brilliant. I wouldn’t say we are weaker in that position seeing as we have both Rodri and Fernandinho and in 17/18 we only had Fern.

Fernandinho in 17/18 was arguably the best holding midfielder in the world, between him and Busquets.

The same isn't true if Rodri now, by a longshot. And Fernandinho is 36 now.

The position is a big weakness for me. And is something we need to focus on.

It’s not rods fault that the wingers lose possession so easily and we get caught out on the counter. Once we stop relying on the wingers to create or not as is the case we will stop getting carved open.

Yeah he probably was, but I still don’t see us being weak in that role now. Fernandinho still puts in performances of old and Rodri is solid. 17/18 we had no cover for Fern, so surely that season we were weaker in that position?

Personally I think the squad is stronger now but the first 11 was much better back then

17/18 Fern was better than 21/22 Fern and Rodri combined.

I don’t think so. We have some many games over a season and having two natural defensive midfielders is better than just having one. It’s not like we struggled in that position last season until Pep had a brain fart in the weeks coming up the champions league final.

How’s he doing with anderlect?
By no means bad, but not great. Improving a lot after a very poor start, though that was messy because it turned out he wasn't technically allowed to be the manager like they initially said. Now he has his badges and is full-time coach, things are looking much better.

I think his two more years comments are probably just the same thing that he always says. He'll get to the end of his contract and then reevaluate if he wants to do a bit longer. Not anything in it imo
Need to stick this upfront. It's two years, things change. It's a very general statement. Pep will look at the situation then and decide.

i dont understand why would you say that at the beginning of new season and 2 years before contract ends
When is the quote/interview from? Is it months ago, and just dragged up/rehashed tonight to create the impression of a club in turmoil, or has he actually said that today?
if it’s the former, fair enough, but if it’s the latter, it can’t be pure coincidence with the Kane news. Can it?

But has he just reiterated it today, adding those new details about international management?
If so, then it’s significant, and not in a good way imo.
Any time Pep talks to Brazilian press he mentions his desire to manage internationally. He seems to want, but know he has no chance of getting, the Brazil job.
