Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

The fact that we've allowed our manager - the man who by all accounts is absolutely central to everything we do from a footballing perspective - to go into the final eight months of his deal without any indication if he's staying or going really suggests otherwise.
You all keep saying pep has to make his decision. He has said he wants to stay but he cannot just stay, last season and this season so far has been poor so for now he doesn’t deserve a new contract. What if this season is alo poor, then obviously the club won’t reward him with a new contract.

If the manager feels like he's lost the dressing room or doesn't deserve to be the manager anymore he can resign, and he won't be short of other offers if he does. Doing it the way we are, where the team has no idea if he's staying or going only serves to destabilize the group. This isn't even football specific, it's the same for literally anyone in a leadership position.

I don't disagree with that. But there is more to it, that's all. VAR errors against us, not having a fit forst choice team, cas debacle last year, etc.

I fully agree that we’ve not had the luck we needed, but there arent many games we dont win that I come away from thinking we’ve been robbed.
Mainly annoyed that we arent at the level we once were.
Maybe thats because we had it too good for a couple of years that any drop off feels like we’ve fallen a mile.

Either way I no longer worry about the day Pep leaves and am becoming more convinced that it will be good for us in the short term at least.
Im getting worn down by his team selections and tactics alone, never mind the players that have to live it every day with no breaks, games every 3 days, injuries, and no rest for over 4 years now

I don't think he looks like he wants to stay tbh

Team needs a refresh - some new signings not up to it, older players getting a bit past it
Family have moved back to Spain
Lost a parent
Lost 2 assistant managers in 2 years
Visibly spikey in press conferences
His family have not moved back to spain, he wife and one kid went back ages ago for a short time to deal with business then came back. He was asked by journos if he took a bung, if he doesnt win the cl then he is a failure and if he is tainted by our ban ,he is pissed off with their inane questions

Okay so can you justify the club handing Guardiola a new contract right now. Performances for the past 15 months suggest he can’t be awarded a new contract so this is not only a Guardiola decision to make, the club also has to make a decision.

The damage caused by the current approach and uncertainty is exacerbated by the fact that there are probably only 4/5 candidates who could realistically replace Guardiola, and that these candidates will likely be approached by other clubs in the coming months. So dither and delay could impact the next appointment as well.

The only way that I can square the lack of leadership shown by the club is if the futures of other people, such as Begiristain, are also tied to Guardiola's position, and there's a reluctance to make wholesale changes this early in the season.
