Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Pochettino seems to be a popular choice but I cannot understand why. He has won 4 PL Manager of the Month awards between 2013 and 2017 and absolutely nothing else. It would be a bigger risk for us than it was when Barcelona appointed Pep after a year with their B team, but at least he was familiar with the players. I realise surviving so long with the Spurs chairman was a notable achievement but apart from a smiling face and reasonable English language skills and plenty to say for the media why would we go from a serial winner to a serial non winner. He may be available, but at what cost is he free.
Surely it’s about context, Pochetino is one of the highest rated coaches in the league because he managed to get spurs into a champions league final despite no where near the level of investment. He also did superb jobs with Espanyol and Southampton. If United had any brains they would sack Ole now and bring him in.

I take it you're his mate as you're fighting his battles so to speak ....I think you need to read it again he is saying that when anybody criticises pep or the club it pisses him off big time and makes him mad, maybe he loses sleep over it, well what is he doing on a forum then if he is too much of a snowflake to accept that people are entitled to get pissed off and voice their opinions (which are not my opinions btw)
Or is he the forum police ?
Name calling and generally insulting anyone who has the audacity to critique Pep or the players.
Doesn’t half confuse me, surely a forum is better with a diverse range of opinion. Hardly seen any post stating Pep OUT or anything to that degree just critiques of some of his decisions over the 15 months.

Don't believe we should bring in any coach judged on c/l performances or getting to a final with a team, it's still however prestigous still a cup competition. Performance in national leagues over a few seasons should be the citereon used selecting our next coach whenever that is.

Imagine not trusting Sane to play in your attack, yet having boundless trust for Mahrez.
More than happy for Pep to stay if he gets the team playing like 3 years ago. Pep of the last 18 months on the hand.. he’s our greatest ever manager, but if he says himself he wants to earn his extension, has he done that over the last year?

one thing is for sure, I don’t ever remember the support base being so split in their opinions

Agree with that as I wouldn’t Di Matteo as manager but his league finishes with spurs were pretty exceptional -

5th
3rd - higher than city
2nd - higher than city
3rd
4th

I think Pep will judge continuation on the progress in the Champs League this season. If it’s no improvement on last season then can see him walking away.

There will become a time when either way the club will need to know. Potential new players will want an indication on who they will be playing under.
And if he walked I’d say he was a failure in that sense, he’s stupid changes against Lyon were there for all too see. If he walked because he couldn’t get further I see him as failure in that respect, he’s had a lot of money and a great squad, he should have the balls to rebuild using youth and a few transfers. He will probably go to Italy and do what he’s done here, change football in Italy get sussed and burn out, maybe if he adapted rather than try and reinvent somewhere else he might achieve what he wants.

bobby split opinion at the end , this place was toxic and the outers still mention him to this day

That was an interesting read. As the author admitted, it is a lot of ifs.

I think the most interesting points he makes are about how we've relied on world class players to drag us out of the mud on off-days, plus the fact that we have a system that needs an Aguero-type player at the tip. Hopefully the challenge of changing how we play to get the best out of the players we have will be enough to keep Pep here a few more years. It's still unclear how many of our problems are down to having a load of injuries at the same time or how many are down to unsuitable players for the system. As the article point out, Dias and Laporte getting a regular run in the side plus Rodri growing into the role will go a long way to getting us sorted.
The comment about "World Class players to drag us out of the mud" is laughable... Don't most teams best players drag them "out of the mud".
