Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

"Ladies & gentlmen, Please welcome your new manager Mr Eric Tent Peg, Eric has been one of the best managers in world football (well Ajax) for the past few years & I am sure he will continue the wonderful style of football he has shown at the many clubs he has managed (well Ajax),
Also I would like to say at this point how much he looks like Pep & this was one of the main reasons we decided to let him have a go at managing THE BIGGEST CLUB IN THE WORLD (trade mark) for a few months at least"

The thing is, Ten Hag is actually a very good manager with shitloads of potential.

And just like everyone else who goes to that smouldering dump, he’ll have said talent and potential knocked out of him and be on the scrap heap in 18 months.

I'm sure it's been said, but I'd imagine players like Haaland will be asking about the manager as part of their deal. If this lad does sign I'd think Guardiola may sign an extension.

So Pep is the longest serving Premiership manager who doesn't have excessively whitened teeth.
He's the longest serving Premier League manager who doesn't look like a character from a Pixar movie.

The time to talk about this to Pep is after the end of the season when he has had a bit of reflection time and rest. He is very happy at City though. The board give him everything he needs and more importantly (i feel), he is always kept in the loop with regards decision making and the information in regards to that. I.e. he speaks about the financial details of the club and how he trusts City and how they trust him. I think he feels valued and wanted and maybe he didnt get that at his other clubs. I also think he feels he has a chance to mould a dynasty in his own way. To bring young players up from academy, to first team and educate them, to play and develop in his way. To always grow and keep learning. I like Pep's humility too. He knows the club will only keep him if he keeps on the right path of getting better, learning and working extremely hard not only when winning but when losing too. When losing he also shows great skill. He congratulates and doesnt blame. He owns defeat and his mistakes. We will see but i would keep him if he and his family wants to stay. Great work Pep.

I think the media bias may be a bit grating for him. He started out with a defiant building history. The press open hatred has made him change his stance to placating opponents esp Klopp. Still now favors from the press. We shoot outselves in the foot a bit. Apathy at wembley was awful. Worst ive experienced in decades. Press have another field day and Guardiola must be thinking..it would be easier at an 'istry club. He's had Barca and Bayern managing our club provides a new level of open hatred. We as fans should have got up and supported the club properly yesterday. Even when we knew it would be a bridge too far with that enforced line up. That would have helped Pep and the team and perhaps he will extebd.

I don't think your reasoning is off but it's worth noting that Pep didn't have it as easy as you'd think media-wise in his former roles.

At Bayern he was constantly getting sniped because of how his methods weren't necessarily the 'Bayern way'. And he received a lot more scrutiny for failing to win the CL than he has here.

At Barcelona there was so much hatred from the Madrid section of the media (remember the time he ranted at Mourinho?), plus he was getting asked too much about Barcelona's political mess that he was pissed off.

The English media is more like high school drama. Lots of sly comments and frequent unfavourable views but it's nowhere near the shit he had to deal with elsewhere.
