Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Perrone and Phillips aren’t in the squad. Why would Ake, Stones, Ederson or Kovacic need to go. Why would City makes a rebuild much bigger than it need be

Perrone and Phillips are still man-city players
Ederson was going to leave this summer, Stones can never get fully, Kovacic is not good enough, Ake also was touted as wanting to leave this summer

Some of our Big name players Like KDB Silva Walker are nearing the end of their City careers and would want a new challenge hahaha Big Payday,

PS
I would not knock them for leaving because of the service they have given us

I get the feeling that Pep wants one more year to make It a respectable decade at the top, but the big noises on the board want him to commit to another solid 3 years for the Inevitable rebuild, there's an impasse In there somewhere and nobody wants to budge, It could all end up with the all parties mutually agreed on a parting of the ways.
I bet there's a few hoping for that outcome, but they won't venture to The Etihad very often.

The CBF is working behind the scenes to convince Pep Guardiola to take over the Brazilian national team in case of leaving Manchester City. This, at least, is the information brought by The New York Times, in a report on the coach's future, in his last year of contract with the Premier League club.

"Well-placed sources – who will remain anonymous to protect relationships" – have indicated that the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is making a big move to sign Guardiola, calling the Catalan several times this year," the newspaper writes.

According to ESPN, however, the story is not quite like that. CBF intermediaries have, in fact, sought information about Guardiola on two recent occasions. But the last contact was made in 2022, long before the choice of Dorival Júnior. There was nothing after that.

Ednaldo Rodrigues was already in charge of the CBF, and all these contacts were made with the knowledge and authorization of the president. Guardiola's brother, Pere, was one of those sought and declined the Brazilian interest, thanking, however, the contact. Talks did not advance after this refusal.

To people close to him, Ednaldo reinforces that he does not have this plan to invest in signing Guardiola, nor did he ask anyone to seek new contacts with him. The CBF's understanding is that any publication on the subject is more speculation about the future of the coaches themselves, than an "open vacancy" in the national team, since confidence in Dorival is highlighted.

There is, however, an important backstage today in the CBF, with an internal dispute for power, with people linked to the IDP (Brazilian Institute of Education, Development and Research), led by Francisco Schertel Mendes (son of Minister Gilmar Mendes); and to the core of Hugo Figueiredo, who is chief of staff of the presidency of the confederation.

Guardiola in the Brazilian national team? Not quite...

People who are part of the CBF board do not rule out, for example, that someone from this other group has signaled to Guardiola. This, however, would have happened on his own initiative, without Ednaldo's consent – who does not put the Catalan on the agenda, nor is he interested in hiring.

Interestingly, on Thursday (7), the CBF received a visit from executives of the City Group, including CEO Ferran Soriano - just as the entity receives any other groups of influence in football. Guardiola, of course, was the topic of conversation at one point, but in a completely informal way.

In addition to citing possible talks with the CBF, the New York Times report also states that Guardiola has not yet made a decision for the future after the end of his contract and cites sources who believe that, today, the most likely scenario is that he chooses to continue for at least another year at City.

Speculation around Brazil is gaining strength because Guardiola has already declared that he wants to take over a national team in the future. England was also mentioned as a possibility recently, but the option ended up being to sign Thomas Tuchel.

Brazil, in turn, under the command of Dorival, is already called to return to the field next week, in a Fifa Date that foresees commitments against Venezuela (on Thursday, 14, at 6 pm, away from home) and Uruguay (the following Tuesday, 7 pm, at 9:45 pm, in Salvador).

Guardiola isn't going anywhere there is internal conflict.

Reading in between the lines regarding peps contract with his latest say on it "what is best for Man City" he added to his answer to the question of his contract situation! He hasn't said that before when talking about renewing! It tells me City are looking or talking to a manager and if this manager says yes pep will not renew!

Isn't that tapping a manager up?

No way Pep wont take the team to America for the club world cup in my opinion.
Personally think he is looking forward to the challenge of getting us back in sync and rebuilding the club.

Is there a possibility that Pep leaves after the club world cup but a new manager comes in before the tournament and they work together during the tournament? To ease the transition?

Nah thought not. Just woke up and talking bollocks!

Just hope we hear soon this speculation isn’t helping anyone

Ok, let's play City Manager for the 2025/26 season

Players Out .... Phillips Walker Stones KDB Ederson Silva Gundogan Ake Kovacic Perrone Mcatee Ortega
Players Staying... Haaland Rodri Grealish* Bobb Foden Lewis Dias Gvardiol Akanji Doku Savinho Nunes

Pep staying or Pep leaving.
it is going to be a big rebuild and money will needed for the next season and that's just for the first-team players
Stones, Ederson and Aké? Why on Earth would we sell those three?

This bad patch has come at the best time.

Pep will be disappointed with the form we are in but will be absolutely loving the challenge of getting us out of it.

Knowing how much of a winner he is, if he had any doubts about renewing, this will surely put the fire in his belly and will be making him want to stay more than ever?

Hopefully a 5 year contract to take him past Les McDowell’s record of 13 years (ignoring Wilf Wild’s war affected 14 year stint). He’ll surpass McDowell’s 592 games managed soon too.

C’mon Pep, you know it makes sense.

Perhaps though there is a possibility that the season ends and the new manager, let’s call him Xabi Alonso for arguments sake, comes in behind the scenes working with Pep. Pep leads us to glory in the Club World Cup with said manager watching on and listening taking part in training sessions etc, pep says his goodbyes and new manager, let’s call him Xabi Alonso again, is in charge first game of 25/26 season.

That’s exactly what I had in mind. Can’t rule it out I suppose.

Obviously hope Pep stays above all else though!
